Foods that seem to work. Grilled Chicken. Go for baked over anything fried, in fact AVOID or seroiusly cut down on anything fried. Cut down on fast food and in fact if I do go to mcdonalds, I stick with hamburgers yep that means you've gotten rid of the mayo, cheese, etc. At restaurants, I carefully check what's in the sandwiches and burgers and take out the stuff like stated above. Hmmm. There is a book out called Eat this Not That. and it breaks down which restaurants offer what and tell you what foods to avoid. Check it out.
Another observation: Ever notice that if you DO eat out, how large the servings are? I mean in some cases you get bread, a salad (which is not bad) and then your main course which can include several sides. Portions these days are HUGE and you have to remind yourself eat only when hungry and if you get to a point where there's STILL food on your plate, bag it, take it home and save it for the next day. Another thought: ARE APPETIZERS THAT NECESSARY? I'm so dumbfounded how people always orders this - a lot of times this in itself is a full meal. I go straight for the main course. Desserrt. Now this is a tough one. I'll indulge every so often but not very. I'm a sucker for Tiramisu and Ice cream.
Of course, fruits and veggies are the usual deal.definitely place a priority on those.
Exercise. If you can't run.do a lot of walking. Do something active.AVOID escalators and elevators. Take the damn stairs!
Here is one other thing to think about. DONT SKIP BREAKFAST. eating breakfast starts your metabolism.makes that motor of yours run, so to speak and that helps break down fat.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER.Green tea supposed is good for helping lose weight.
I can't think of anything else but these are observations based on personal exp.

eat less junk, eat more "good" things, drink more water and try exercises that you enjoy & don't cost $$ (walking or jogging, swimming if there's somewhere you can go for cheap, etc)
hmm - your profile says you're 17 - you haven't started *driving* this past year have you?
50lbs in 1 year is a lot - it might be a good idea to see a doctor to see if there's some other factors besides diet & exercise which are affecting you.
in fact if you're trying to lose all that weight you've put on then you really must see a doctor as there's possible implications for trying to lose too much to quickly
finally - as you're trying to lose weight, *don't* focus on the lbs you have day-to-day, or week-to-week. concentrate on other areas such as fitness, stamina & how your clothes are fitting you & let the weight take care of yourself; bear in mind that muscle is denser & therefore heavier, so concentrate on 'size' rather than 'pounds'
good luck
Are you on birth control? I was gaining weight while on birth control but switched to a non hormonal type 2 months ago and have lost 11 pounds. I just don't constantly crave food like before. Especially sweets. Before I used to have to have them and now I could care less. I don't even have that much of an appetite now. My sister also gained allot of weight after quitting sports. She used to be 125 and now is 213. I know weight watchers has helped her. There is also a book out called eat this not that. It gives you better options for real life like what pizza is better. I am also a very emotional eater. If you are the same you have to find another outlet for your emotions. I know it is all easier said than done. Trust me. I feel for you honey and wish you the best.

Don't beat yourself up! That's a horrible thing to say to yourself! OK, now if you want to make a change start asking others around you to help you out. (like what your doing right now) Everyone says the first step to change is awareness. You can do this! But not if you keep hurting your emotional self like this. Give yourself the love that you need, the patience, and be persistent with it and you can totally acheive your goal! All of the rest of the physical stuff will come, once you make the decision you will change! Keep your chin up. You can do anything!
1) Check your diet. If your eating fast food everyday that's bad. also cut your servings to about half or just one serving no seconds. 2) see a doctor. ask them to help get you on a HEALTHY diet not one of these infomercial things. 3) run or walk. its free and its good for you.
Of course, you need to take a look at what you're eating daily; I would write down everything you eat and then of course, start some type of exercise program. Try to eat 5 meals a day, drink lots of water, avoid sodas, and are you able to join a gym? If not, what about going jogging? walking? swimming? From the amount of weight you have gained though, it seems your eating habits might be a problem.
Maybe you should work out every morning you wake up and you should stop eating junk if you are eating one.
