Depends on how dirty your floor is and how dirty the water gets really. I have seen my mom mop the floor once then after cleaning the mop she will mop the floor once more. So a total of twice. I have done that too mostly to make sure I get it clean. But i have mopped more than that if the floor is dirtier. Sometimes with a mop it picks up the dirt and water pretty quickly but if you do not clean the mop thoroughly then it will just track the dirt back on the floor. So i can see why someone would need to dunk the mop 5 times if they are trying to get the dirt out of the mop. I also had a Swiffer once when I lived alone in my small apartment. The kitchen was tiny and i didn't need much to clean the floor. I would use one sheet cleaning the floor. Then toss out the sheet to use a second one to make sure the floor is clean. 😎

I've mopped at pharmacies, university buildings, operating rooms, and factories over terrazzo, hardwood, parquet, granite, marble and epoxy finishes in climates where a lot of salt gets tracked in with slushy snow (or yeah, blood and body fluids in the operating theater). What returns the shine to the floor best is to hit the floor once over with a sloppy wet mop and then dry it and repeat once to clean off the haze left by the first once-over. In the operating room I'd add bleach to the second rinse.
I see NO reason to change the water 5 times unless your 18 month nephew/niece is gonna lick at the floor where the dog pooped.
So what I like to do is give the floor a mop around 1 dip than a 2nd time dip. I than change the water out clean the mop and add mop solution to the water. For me I like to see im picking up the dirt at first than on my final clean its more to add the product in this case I've been using a lysol mopping product. You will see the mop water is less dirty. I feel if you dnt change the water your only moving the dirt around

Jay this is an interesting question. When a person mops they naturally keep dipping the mop back in the soapy water periodically. And that water keeps getting dirtier each time they do that. But changing the water repeatedly would be a huge chore and probably isn't really necessary. That's because it is after all a floor your cleaning and not a plate you're gonna eat food from.
🙋♂️You have to make a judgment call. How much stuff is on the floor when you mop? How dirty is the water? You kind of have to feel it out yourself but sometimes it's just simply preference
Sometimes mops don't get clean just once and they need bleached more than once in order to get the mop clean
I haven't seen an old fashioned mop for sale in years. All I've got is this damned Swiffer, that seems to have a rejected maxi pad on it instead of wool.
Dipping multiple times actually helps release the mud into the water and settle down and helps soak cleaner water
The dipping is more to clean the mop from the dirt that it just cleaned from the floor, not just to get water on the floor.
I don't know I suck at mopping the floor that's why I don't do it at all
If it’s a medium size area or bigger More then once because the mop gets really dirty if it’s really small you can do it once
I use to have to put inhot hot water an disinfectant to clean them when i use to work retail store
No you have to squeeze the dirt out of it and get new fresh hot water and soap
mopping sucks. you need a swiffer wet jet
