Why do old creepy men try to talk to me in the sauna and jacuzzi?

I’ve recently joined a gym, I’ve only been to the gym a week or so but already I’m getting annoyed at the old men in the sauna who try to talk to me. I just want to relax and be on my own but they keep trying to start conversations with me with the most stupid excuses to talk. They also keep trying to move up closer to me until they get in my personal space and it creeps me out. There’s been times when I’ve told them I’m getting out and one of them said “I’ll join you” and he followed me around the spa and kept trying to talk to me. I don’t understand why complete strangers try to talk to me I’m not there to meet new people

Sometimes I go in and just want to keep to myself and conversation I don't want to take part in but I do anyways because it is a group setting

It's odd to act as if the Sauna is a room designed to sit in silence. I've met a lot of cool people in the Sauna. a lot of girls are chill and understand this too. Not awkward.

But there's always that girl that's kinds socially awkward and just makes the room feel uncomfortable because she has a vibe of "eeeew... people".

I’ve had my fair share of older guys trying to get talkative in situations where I just want to be left alone. Being nice and going along with the small talk I find just intrigues them to keep going and eventually crossing over a line between friendly chitchat and into full blown creep mode. blowing them off as soon as they try to approach and if they don’t get the hint by then a simple “f*ck off” has been doing the trick for me. Be a bitch, guys hate that.

If you are not engaged or married, go buy a plain wedding ring to wear there, and next time it happens just flash the ring and tell them my husband prefers that I don't date.
It sucks that you have to go through that, but it should help.

I don't see the problem with making polite, casual conversation. If they are being lewd or sexual, I'd have an issue with it. As far as getting too close, you have an invisible 2 foot bubble around you. Everyone does. The law states as much. Nobody should be able to knowingly enter your bubble without your consent. If they do, ask them for a little space. If they refuse, get up, walk out of the sauna, and report them to one of the gym managers.

Honestly it doesn't matter if it's acceptable or not, people will do as they please. Men/women if their old and single want someone to talk to, it may not be for romantic but they want someone to talk to. Some don't know how to take a hint but yea just go home and take a shower fam. Much easier and less annoying
