Others say the more you work out the more muscles you gain.
I want to work out everyday for 3 hrs. (I know sounds crazy. But I want to reach my body goal as soon as possible)

Trending & News Depends, its not good to work out the same muscles groups without a minimum of 48 hour rest in between. Working out does cause the muscles to tear down, and then they heal themselves by repairing, growing and rebuilding... which promotes growth. So you have to rest them in order to allow them to heal themselves.
When I was seriously into total fitness I use this program, to build muscle with 3 x heavy sets; 1st set of 10 reps, 2nd set of 8 reps and 3rd set of as many as I could do. I would increase the weight by 5 to 10 lbs with each progressing set. So as as the reps dropped the weight increased. Once I could do more than 6 reps on the 3rd set I would increase the weight of the first set by 5 to 10 lbs. and repeat the cycle when the next day come around to work that muscle group.
I would rest for 5 minutes between exercises and no more than 1 to 2 minutes between sets... so the workout moved pretty quickly. I would do no more the 6 different exercises that focus on the same muscle group in a day... and I would always do them in the same order because the amount of weight you could put up would vary by the fatigue you gain as you progress through the work out.
Day 1- Chest and Biceps
Day 2- Back and Triceps
Day 3- Lower body with Cardio
Day 4 Rest Day
Then I would repeat the cycle. Once I got to a place I liked and I just wanted to maintain. I use light weights and did 3 x set of 10, 12 and then as many as I could starting with heavy weight and then decreasing them by 5 to 10 lbs. on each progressing set. This tones and defines your muscles while building endurance. Again I would not do any more than 6 different exercise in one day.
Monday- upper body with light cardio
Tuesday- Lower Body with light cardio
Wednesday- Rest day
Thursday- upper body with light cardio
Friday- Lower Body with light cardio
Saturday or Sunday- I would go cycling any where form 10 to 40 miles or leisurely kayaking or hiking. Or I would take the weekend off and enjoy all the hard work and pick it up again on Monday. Light Cardo to me was speed 8 on the treed mill for 2 miles or swimming less than 1000 meters in the pool. Heavy Cardio was 4 to 6 miles on the treed mill starting at speed 8 and progressively working down to speed 10, or swimming 1600 meters in the pool.
When you hit that wall then you change up the exercise your doing, or take a week off or do one week heavy and one week light and vary things around... because your body will become a costumed to any set routine and then stop building more muscles so at times you must increase, decrease vary the routine or change exercises.
Women actually recover within a day vs men
@Prettyapathetic if you say so... sounds like you already know the answers... Best of luck to you.
Both are true, in a way.
Your muscles WILL respond better if you do NOT use the same muscle groups two days in a row. It is during the rest days that the muscle tissue IS rebuilding itself more strongly. Strenuous exercise creates "micro tears" in the muscle tissue and it is on the rest days that the muscles will "self-repair" themselves and will come back stronger. The same is true with your bones - they will rebuild based on the load placed: that's why docs recommend weight-bearing exercises.
So, Monday maybe work the legs. Tuesday, work the upper body (and the legs will be resting and getting stronger). Wednesday, maybe do your torso and back, and then your upper body will rest and rebuild, etc.
As far as working out more, to a degree, working out more will develop your muscles more, but just don't exceed you body's ability to keep self-repairing. Note: It's a good idea to take a protein supplement with "all essential amino acids" when weight training. See a medical doctor with any specific questions on diet and exercise.
3 hours? Lmao that’s a terrible idea no offence. Female bodybuilder speaking here so I know a bit about muscle..
I1) it’s true that you build muscle when you rest first that’s if you have sufficiently reached hypertrophic during training sessions and had an adequate amount of calories and protein. Thiss esentially means training hard enough so that your muscles need to repair themselves as tissue breaks down and gets ‘damaged’ when you workout and lift weights which is actually a good thing unless you are overdoing it
2) I would stick to 1 hour max working out.. even pros usually stick to 1 hour max… there’s literally no point in doing anything more as you’ll either be overtraining in the long run or it means you are taking too long rest periods. This excludes cardio though.. but based on the fact you want to gain muscle I would limit cardio to a minimum..
3) as for training split that really depends on your experience levels, weak areas and time schedule and so forth. For a beginner I would aim for three-4 times a week. I personally do a 5 day split with two rest days in between and you should aim to hit each body part twice a week ideally. But also be careful not to push too hard and what’s realistic.. good luck
You shoul workout a keast 3 times a week if u dont get a rest uwl be sore nd to sleepy get relaxed days aswel to do your own thing to

Don't be nuts, 3 hours a day😅
You aren't a dude or really fit or on steroids.
I have trained hard 3 hours per week. 6 days for recovery or light workouts.
I also did parkour 9 hours a day, outside, for many years, during winter too. But that is more skill/endurance based than building muscle.
To build fast.
Workout 5 days a week.
40 minutes of hard basic workouts. Tons of supersets, shocking the muscle tactics etc. Medium weights. Remenber time under tension matter, not this 12etc rep bs.
20min Cardio 3 times a week, fasted, after waking up, not eating.
Eat 5 times a day, good amount of protein, fats and carbs. Eat clean foods not junk. Count your calories and be about 10% in the plus per day.
Measure every Saturday when you wake up. Your bodyfat, weight, and muscle gain. Make notes.
And sleep 9 hours every night, and lots of chill sex. It helps get a good deep sleep.
Muscle is built by healing a damage just a little bit stronger. Too much damage and you are just getting more sick and weak.
Some things take some time.
Daily moderate workouts, build stamina through repetition. Intense ALTERNATING DAY workouts build muscle mass by giving the body the time to grow new muscle fibers.
Worked one summer on a Mississippi barge line as a deckhand. Came off that boat in the best physical shape of my life! And the only time, I truly had a genuine tan, Mississippi river sun is merciless!
Passing through the Paducah KY airport, if I'd had the time, could have gotten picked-up by two Stewardesses and a car rental counter agent!!!
IT DEPENDS ARE U trying to get tone/cut muscle or u talking body building muscles lol... if u work out every day muscles stop growing after your used to that routine of working out lose body fat and your going for that ripped look like Bruce Lee 😂... body builders u have to take days off when u sleep your body repairing itself have too let your body recuperate eat plenty of food rest well...,.. I only do calisthenics workouts Monday through Friday and I take the weekends off and I'm pumped 💪🏽! do pull ups muscle ups boom that pull up bar is where it's at sit ups push ups incline decline body squats boom easy after one months just say thank you lol 😂 I use no weights for working out anymore and I'm more jacked then I ever was when I was younger real talk :) ... sleep eat sleep eat no pain no gains lol 😂!
Working out ALMOST everyday is good for gaining muscles, and you don't work out the same area every day.
You want to have one or two "rest days" a week, where you let your body rest and have a break. But yes, you gain muscle during sleep during the healing process. If you don't get sufficient sleep, your muscle development process will be severely hindered.
That being said, you will only gain muscle during sleep if you workout during the day. What happens is using your muscles like this will cause tears in your muscles (not that types of tears you typically think if, they're not harmful), and when they heal at night your body will fill-in the gaps of those tears, creating a slightly bigger muscle.
Also, the type of food you eat will determine how well your body fills in those tears, protein helps tremendously in that regard.
1. Working does grow muscles but also resting on some days, does help in the process of generating and puting out those muscles you curl up in the gym.
2. Basically our bodies build up when we are in the rest mode and that is when you begin to see lumps protruding out on those biceps with time.
3. The easiest way you can build jobs muscles is simply by do i g these steps.
-You can set up a schedule for different body parts.
-You can be friendly with light weightsat first (like for the first 2months)
-Later you can increase on the weights.
-You are competing against you non out there else.

@marish01 great schedule it would be. Butvit would not recommend you to work out a body part day after day. Since it is better to chill it like for a day and then resume it. Here is a an example of a certain schedule you can use to adjust on yours too.
Mon back and arms
Tue Legs and chest
Wed Arms
Fri Legs & shoulders
Sat Quads, Back
Meaning I space the body parts.
And Thursday n Sunday are days off totally frok the steal.
Depends on what you are doing. If you want to bulk red muscle 15 lbs workouts will do that but work in moderation. For more pink function muscle workout i recommend light weight workouts, hiking, intense cardio, light weight suspension (holding a light weight in 1 position 5 to 10 min. It will feel heavier the longer you hold it), parkour, and climbing.
Working out every day is fine but moderate between workout & rest. Muscle grows through micro-tears via strenuous exercise & healing. If you don't allow for rest, your body will feel the physical stress.
All depends on the type of training. For instance, 3 hours of cardio will never gain someone as much muscle as 30 minutes of hypertrophic & strength training.
Also, the same muscle group shouldn't be worked out every day. Studies show that people gain more muscle when they have adequate recovery time. Which is at least 24 hours. And it also helps with not overtraining.
So I would urge you not to think about the duration of the workout as much as the structure & intensity of it.
It's not impossible but your diet and supplements have to be on point to get the desired results
I rest 2 days, but im still quite active, Saturday is yoga, and Sunday I'm either running, cycling, fishing, hiking or chilling
Like this I still have energy to increase weight to gain or increase reps to shred
Working out every day is okay but you will want to work out a different body part each day.
For example, On day one work Back and Biceps. You do these two on the same day because every back exercise also works your Biceps, so you work your back, then you finish off with bicep exercises.
Day two you work out chest and triceps, again because almost every chest exercise also works out the triceps. Do your chest exercises, the finish your work out with triceps exercises.
Day Three legs. quadriceps, Hamstrings then calves.
Day four, you could do Stomach. You can also do cardio on this day.
Now, you start all over again with Your back day.
This was my typical routine when I was body building.
Don't work out the same muscle in consecutive days. So if you do biceps on Monday, don't do them again until at least Wednesday.
Also, don't listen to most trainers at gyms. Most of them are wrong. They do very few reps with high weight which actually prevents them from getting as strong as if you do lots of reps with less weight. And they end up musclebound/slow due to very few reps with high weight. They have less muscle density due to a low rep count.
Your muscles only grow when they are at rest. If you are working out every day you should be doing a split routine. Work each bodypart every other day or else lift on one day and do a cardio workout the next.
3 hours a day will be hard to maintain. 60-90 minutes is really plenty of time.
There's much to be read on the subject, but the basic idea is that muscles break down when you work with weights, then rebuild afterwards when your body is not working those muscles. The rebuilding process can begin as soon as an hour after the workout, or up to 5 hours, and lasts up to 48 hours. Depending on the intensity and load of the workout, you may not see results for 15 - 30 days.
You can work out everyday, but you shouldn't work the same exact muscles every day. Different groups each day. A 3 day rotation works well.
Workout for 45mins to one hour. Keep your heart rate up if you want to burn fat. You ever heard this before.. Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym? It’s correct. Also, within 45 mins of training you should have a high protein high carb protein shake. Before you go to sleep, eat some cottage cheese. It’s Casein Protein, which is slow digestive which will keep your body in a positive nitrogen balance as you sleep.
Creatine might also help you.
You have to give your muscles time to rest and rebuild. The harder you work them, the more rest they need. 3 hours a day is what professional bodybuilders and stuff do. That's excessive. Talk to a good personal trainer and have them set up a workout plan for you that works and do what they tell you. You can't overwork your body and expect good results.
Just ingest some gamma radiation, silly! Stop being a dunce!
No, that's not the way to do it. If you do that then your body will break down and everything else you do will suffer Performance-Wise. You could only keep that schedule up if you were on steroids. I would recommend 2 days on and 1 day off with plenty of rest every night to recover, or 1 day on and 1 day off and again plenty of rest every night at the right time (Preferably be asleep by 10 pm every night). No need to waste time when less is more.
The science has lots of workout methods. Muscles are weirdly interesting. They can sense when we over work them and stop gaining strength. So trainers suggest breaking up workouts into parts of the body on different days and changing it up. Because muscles are apparently sentient.
Three hours a day! Your body is likely to tell you something different after a short time with that schedule.
4 days a week is plenty but if you DO want to work out every day, make sure you don't work the same muscles on consecutive days. Giving them time to recuperate after a strenuous workout is vital.
It depends on the intensity of your workouts, if you keep the intensity high, that way you could cause harm to your body because it´s not used to that amount. It´s less important how long you train.
Best to mix it up. I target different muscles groups each day , and at least 30 minutes on the treadmill at a fast pace. I do work out every day though as that is good for mental health as well.
Working out 3 hours daily will do more harm than good.. muscles need to work and get sufficient rest to recover and grow.. protein intake also has to be higher.. excessive workout without rest will lead to muscle loss instead.
U have a very feminine body.. why do u want to spoil it.. try yoga instead
No.
You'll just leave a handsome corpse, and die of heart failure younger. Fit people don't live longer
Good healthy eating is more important. But you don't want to be a slob either.
Focus a different group of muscles the other days, eat good allow the other some rest to recuperate, switch switch switch!
3 hrs daily? Well take some breaks and let your body rest
10 mins daily is no problem but 3 hrs is a lot on a daily basis
Yes, you just don't necessarily work out the same muscles every day. I of course rest on the 7th day of the week.
You can workout everyday but not the same muscle group twice in a row

You’re going to over work yourself and most likely won’t see any gains. If you squat 3 days a week heavy moderate and light then alternate a secondary focus like specifically legs or specifically glutes every other squat day you’ll be in wayyyy better shape since you’ll have time to rest. Also you can’t grow hips they’re bones. Also also 3 hours a day is way too much your body will break down and you might hurt yourself
No working out everyday is actually bad, however working on different muslces every day can be good but still always remember to take a day off and rest
You could but dont do the same muscles every day. Also take at least one good day off. If you dont know what you're doing you can easily suffer from an overuse injury. Just go 3x a week.

Yeah no please dont do that. Butt hips legs... too much of similar stuff in a row. No arms? No back? If you're focusing on your butt its ok to do extra but dont stack the days butt butt in a row... no.
Chest exercises involve arms
No arms, shoulders or back?
What is your body goal? And what part of gaining muscles is important to you?
Don't work the same muscle group on consecutive days. What is your body goal?
3 hours a day is extreme, you don't need that much to be fit. 1 hour 3-5 times a week should be plenty for most goals. It's also largely about diet.
Yeah--working out for 3 hours a day isn't going to get you to your goal faster. That ain't how it works. Overtraining is a thing.
it depends on your age and what muscles you are targeting. Generally, you should work out a muscle group and then let it rest for 1 or 2 days. then hit it again.
No, you will burn out before you ever achieve your goal of doing so. Three times a week is the best schedule for gaining muscle. You also need to stick to the proper diet for doing so.
muscles improve with resting time cause the growth is due to the ability of muscles and tissue to heal and regenerate after they've been stressed by work out
You need a day or two to rest, let your body recover.
You need a coach or a personal trainer. You're confuzzled honey.
You should be resting at LEAST two days a week. If you’re able to truly work out your muscles every day, then that means you’re not doing enough.
No. Unless you only workout 2 muscles types each day but even then, you need recovery time

@marish01 then I would love to see your butt if you workout so much.
Switch which muscles you workout everyday and it will give them rest when you work out a different set the next day.
Everytime you work out, you break muscle fibers, rest days help you heal, and turn them into muscles. Too much of anything isn't good for us.
I read once, you should train muscles you want to grow three times per week max and let them rest the next three days... at least something like that.
If you dont time heal your muscles you will brake down too much. That why people take steroids it helps in repairing broken muscles
Give yourself a day or two of rest. Muscle fatigue is a real thing. Plus, as someone mentioned, muscle repairs during rest.
There are genetics involved here. Muscle can't grow if there is no rest. And goals are good but it is not a mission of life and death.
No you needs cut was back 40 minutes to hour is more than enough 3 days week 4 max and get rest eat right
Lifting heavy for 3 hours every day isn't the best plan, but working on different energy systems for a total of three hours is pretty much ideal.
Not the same muscle group every day you need to rest in between so they can grow properly
I think 5 days is good also need to rest. Over do it’s also not healthy.
body building is a recognized sport, it is done by "Working out and diet"
You need rest days too, or else you won't reach your max potential
How often are you working out right now and what are you doing?
When you work muscles you tear them, resting them heals them, they heal stronger, that is why you should not work the same muscles everyday
Yes but you have to eat a lot almost a sickening amount
Same. Lol I'm trying to go as hard as I can, but I don't know which advice to take either lol
No muscles need a day or two between workouts to heal.
Your better off with contacting a personal trainer
Yes it is, but you should mix things up a bit 😎👍
As long as it doesn't hurt.
