+1 yWell, regardless of whether you're omnivore, vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, keto or whatever other diet exists. To make abs show, you need to have a low body fat percentage
To achieve that, the most important thing is eating for your goal and training. To eat for your goals, you have to start by counting the amount of calories in everything you eat everyday. Try to use an app such as MyFitnessPal in order to count these. In order to have a low body fat, you have to be in a calorie deficit, meaning that you need to spend more energy than what you consume. Now though, don't start starving yourself nonetheless, food is important in building muscles, the real thing to do is to eat the right food and the correct amount of food. Try to eat high protein meals, usually meats and milk products are high in protein but since you said you're trying to become vegan, you may have to look for oats, pea, peanut butter and the like. For vegans, since it can be harder and more expensive to get the amount of protein needed, you may find going for vegan protein powders effective (and no protein powders aren't unnatural unlike what most people think.)
Next you have to choose the right exercises for your goals. And please, don't just go on YouTube and look for exercises that look cool, because there are lots of fake stuffs online. Instead try to do some research and look for exercises that are proved to be effective.
Last but not least, sleep enough. Try to get about 8hrs of sleep everyday (easier said than done Ik) but as least try to. Because it's when we sleep that muscles start to repair and grow stronger, through the help of the protein you consume. If you don't sleep enough or aren't consuming enough protein, your body can't repair the muscles properly and then, you won't gain as much results.
Bonus note: Muscle building is something that takes a lot of time, and by that, I mean that it can even take a year for results to show for some people. Don't believe YouTube videos about getting results in just one month, a lot of those trainers are on steroids. Be patient, work hard for your goals, be consistent and eventually you'll make it. There's no real shortcut when it comes to body building, you'll always have to put in the work regularly no matter what you do.10 Reply

Is the question about losing fat or building muscle mass?
Losing fat beyond a certain level will always need an unbalanced diet. It's potentially very dangerous, but everybody seems to do it, so you do you. Just be careful to still keep enough nutrients in your diet—you will probably eat a bit more proteins and less fat. If you're vegan, that would mean less oily foods.
If you are asking about muscle mass, any balanced vegan diet will do. Despite what some people say, you get all the daily protein you need even if you eat vegan, UNLESS you are also trying to lose weight by reducing your intake. If you mix the two goals (losing fat while building muscle mass) please be followed by a doctor and have regular checkups with blood work. Otherwise just eat normally, and you'll grow as strong as you wish.
I can't answer on the "how long" which was the main question, because that depends on a lot of factors (your body, your genes, your hormones and stress level, what exercise you do exactly, what you eat exactly, etc). As I said above, if you are combining the two goals, your body won't react in a predictable way, so it's even harder to do a prediction in that case (regardless of the type of diet).10 Reply

+1 yDon’t confuse core training with Abs
core training is essentially the building blocks to generations muscle mass in that area.
just because you train your ‘abs’ does not necessarily mean you’re training your core muscle to retain that strength and outcome.
Also you’ll need to have a huge deficit in your diet and a low fat% count to show even the two rips under your breasts.01 Reply
Asker+1 yMy bmi is 23.1 and the two line thingies are visible but lower abs is the main problem :/
Depends on where you at right now. But it is definitely possible. You just have to watch your food intake. How much fats, carbs, protein etc you eat. That will make it or break it.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI shouldn't even be giving any advice since i don't want it triggering any type of eating disorder if you have one but since you asked for the advice here it is. This is shit that the food industry and body building industry will NEVER divulge to the general public because they're afraid it will cost them $$$. Get rid of the diary products get rid of the diary foods 1. cheese 2. milk (maybe eggs ice cream yogart) any diary get rid of. 3. Soda and carbonated beverages 4. chocolate
that's the secret. get rid of that crap from your diet and you'll see the abs and the fat disappearing from your body.
take the food pyramid and flip it upside down (invert it). take all the foods at the top and put them at the bottom and all the foods at the bottom put at the top that's how you shred the fat
there's other methods which i do not recommend and won't say on here because they're fucking dangerous and stupid but the ones i've mentioned are the safest ways to get the abs you're looking for11 Reply- +1 y
Hmm you do realise milk products are very high in protein and are high quality proteins as well, right?

+1 yWhats your bmi (body mass index)? 33+ or 26 there huge difference.
So depending on that it will be different length of time, also depending on how your body reacts to it. So no one can really tell precicely, all we can do here is speculate with answers or using given info make somewhat guess.
And you haven't given any numbers nothing so we dont even have anything to work with, so wanna try again asking that question with more info?01 Reply
Asker+1 yRight. My bmi is 23.1
+1 yDepends on where you are now.
One thing, ab training doesn't give you abs. Only diet does. Training makes them better, but cardio will make them show more than crunches.
Also even with a vegan diet you can gain weight if you add a lot of sauce and oils.10 Reply- 1.9K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic.

10 Replyomg just eat in a calorie deficit with high protein intake and the abs will get there when they do

+1 yYou already have abs. Everyone does. Just gotta lose the fat by eating less than you burn. You do that most efficiently by reducing carbs and sugar to add close to zero carbs/sugar as you can and eat high in fat, protein and fiber.

+1 yIt won’t happen. While abs are effectively a result of controlled starvation, you have to have muscle mass to be able to cut down to. You’ll never build enough muscle on a vegan diet to cut down to have defined abs.

@NobodyXox yes.

That’s one big load of trash lies. I’m vegetarian, and when I went my friends told me I could not build muscle so I got fking ripped to prove em wrong. I had some nice abs. After years of being a lazy beer drinker I lost em, but I’m starting again…vegans can have abs, easy peasy, and if you really can’t figure it out with a diet just drini protein shakes like any other fitness buff
- +1 y
@Shamalien no, you didn’t. How much do you weigh, what is your height, and what is your bf%?
- +1 y
@Shamalien get back to me when you’ve got a similar build to me. 5’9” 210lbs 15% body fat.
- +1 y
But what is the reason you can't get abs on a vegan diet.
You can get everything in a vegan diet but B12 and for that you can just get a vegan supplement.
Vegans can get protein, fats, carbs etc.
And if you're not sure if you get enough protein to bulk just get some vegan protein shakes like most gym freaks do. - +1 y
@NobodyXox Abs require fairly substantial core muscle and a serious cut. It is not possible to without extreme amounts of supplementation to get the protein required to build the muscle mass required to be able to cut and have abs.
- +1 y
@NobodyXox as someone that trained boxing very seriously for a while I ended up getting very healthy and started to get light definition for abs but that was still 187lbs of walk around weight. I would have likely had to cut another 15lbs to be at a truly cut abs weight. Abs are not healthy for a walk around weight; you should want to be able to get eat enough to not be hungry throughout the day but not so much that you lose weight easily.
- +1 y
@NobodyXox you need real meat protein. Plants don’t cut it. Part of it is the fats the other part is the actual protein from the meats.
- +1 y
@DeltaCharlieEcho you’re just plain wrong and there are plenty of vegans in existence today who prove it. Hope nobody is stupid enough to believe this drivel
- +1 y
there is no different between animal and plant proteins. They are both made up of amino acids, and they both contain the same 22 amino acids.
Plant based protein is also healthier. That's because, pound-for-pound, they pack more nutrients into fewer calories. They also have one thing that animal proteins completely lack, fiber. - +1 y
@DeltaCharlieEcho - there is protein in vegan diet. Nuts as example. Lentils. Tofu. Chickpeas, etc.
By the way this guy is muscular, right?
He's Gurarati. Indian. They predominantly follow a vegan diet. He can kick your ass and not break a sweat doing it. - +1 y
@BlackBeauty90 he got outed for using tons of steroids and non vegan supplements
- +1 y
@Shamalien in reality, no. It isn’t raw and it isn’t natural.
- +1 y
@Shamalien most shakes are made from whey protein. Whey is protein from milk which is not vegan because it is an animal product.
Vegan shakes are made of chickpea protein, rice protein, soy protein, chai seed protein or any other plant based alternative. - +1 y
@NobodyXox pea protein is a popular source for vegan shakes
- +1 y
@DeltaCharlieEcho there's a difference between a raw vegan or a normal vegan.
The standard vegan just doesn't eat or wear animal products. So no dairy, eggs or meat. They can eat non raw products like vegan chocolate or vegan cheese or vegan meat.
The raw vegans just eat fruits, nuts and vegetables.
+1 yProtein rich and together with cardio you need some slight strength training using bands. Do abs exercises from YouTube. No pain no gain.
