Fasting is safe… if done right.
https://www.clevelandheartlab.com/blog/intermittent-fasting-a-new-way-to-help-your-heart-and-your-health/
Make sure you're using the guidelines & schedules of professional doctors. In my case, I used the info of Canadian Dr. Jason Fung.
https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Guide-Fasting-Intermittent-Alternate-Day/dp/1628600012
But there are other doctors with their different, specialized types of fasts for all sorts of objectives. Here are tips from credible sources on how to do it safely:

https://health.clevelandclinic.org/5-tips-for-fasting-the-healthy-way/
Like all medical-treatments, it's not for everyone:
「Intermittent fasting is safe for many people, but it's not for everyone. Skipping meals may not be the best way to manage your weight if you're pregnant or breast-feeding. If you have kidney stones, gastroesophageal reflux, diabetes or other medical problems, talk with your doctor before starting intermittent fasting.」

Here are the pros & cons of the systems:

Here are the methods & risks:

I've done a maximum of 5-days straight. It all depends on your life. As Dr. Fung advised: Fit fasting into your life, not the other way around. Otherwise you won't do it, and you won't get the results you want.
Keep in mind that each lb of fat has 3.5k-caories, and some weight lost (esp. in the 1st few days) is water-weight lost. So, ignore the water-weight and do the math: How many lb's do you need to lose, how many calories do you burn per day, and so how many days' worth of fasting is needed?
No need to do it in 1 go (which will take A LOT of self-restraint & discipline, maybe even more than most have). You can spread it out (though it will take longer). But the best schedule… is the schedule you can ACTUALLY complete. Finishing 100% longer is still shorter constantly trying short and failing each time enough to give-up altogether.
I did it. My doctor was impressed, and I've kept my 20lb weight-loss since 2017. Find what works for you.
There is some validity to "alternate day fasting" to help lose weight. I tell my clients to see a medical doctor- and/or dietitian/nutritionist before changing their diet around.
If people just ate 1/2 size servings of EVERYTHING they now eat, by definition, they would still eat every food they want, yet get just HALF the calories!
I think fasting is better than eating at a calorie deficit. Eat pure keto (cheese, bacon, eggs, peanuts) for 2 days and you'll feel what it's like to be in ketosis. From there you can easily transition into doing one meal per day or even every other day.
Only problem is that I would obsess over food, I'd think up the meal I was going to eat constantly. Then once the time came, I had a cooking party cooking steaks, eggs, bacon, etc. It was so damn satisfying. Keto OMAD is such a fun diet if you can stick to it. As long as my eating window was 2-4 hours each day (meaning no calories for the rest of the day) I still lost weight despite making a party of every meal.
@Guy__ I think it should be said that you can still gain weight eating keto. Keto must be done with fasting (intermittent fasting/one meal a day). Keto just keeps your appetite suppressing hormones in balance, so it'll be easier to maintain a weight, but you still have to put in the effort (like forgoing food) if you want weightloss.
I will say, while in ketosis hunger felt different. It was more like a craving (I don't really need to eat something but I really want to eat something) rather than feeling like I absolutely needed to eat something right now.
I'd recommend keto to anyone. All it takes is eating ketogenically (or fasting) for 2 days to feel a real change. And what's wrong with radically changing your diet for two days? Worth a try at least.
Quality of food makes a difference as well. Peanuts I avoid for many reasons, mycotoxins, lectins, shbg elevation...
Cheese, bacon and eggs I would only ever consume from the farm I could see myself what they eat. If I don't know 100% sure I don't eat it because many animals are just full of toxins.
@Guy__ What do you think about those frozen mixed vegetables steamable packs (frozen carrots, corn, peas, green beans)? I buy a ton of them and try to eat a pack every day. Vegetables seem important but I don't use them other than onions so those packs seem like a good supplement.
I use peanuts as a snack to get through work (they're the cheapest legumes). Never thought anything bad of it. Should I avoid them for something else?
I totally avoid peanuts, and most other nuts too. If I do eat something like cashews, they will have to be fermented in raw yogurt for a day or something. And overall most nuts raise SHBG which lowers testosterone. But I'm sure that plenty of people eat them and do just fine, I personally prefer not to, since I get half my calories from over a gallon of fermented milk a day and as many free run eggs as I want. And I never buy anything except for olive oil for cooking, because I grow my own vegetables. The pack you listed doesn't sound that awful, but still homegrown is infinitely better.
Thanks for the mHO.
Starving yourself is not the way to lose weight. Starving yourself actually slows down your metabolism and does you more bad than good.
To lose weight you need to eat healthy foods. Cut back on take out, soft drinks and junk. Go for fresh, healthy options. Instead of a packet of chips, go for celery with avocado dip for instance.
Go for walks or runs. Get a personal trainer (outdoor boot camps, gyms, online training, etc) to guide you on how to target your weight goals.
Do NOT starve yourself. It is not how you lose weight. It could send you down a spiral of eating disorders and unhealthy food habits. You need food. Food isn’t bad.
You don’t look overweight or fat. I would be focusing on getting a healthier body rather than weight loss. Make a healthy lifestyle your goal rather than losing X about of weight. A healthy mindset matters.
Another tip: be careful where you get nutritional advice from. There are a lot of misconceptions and false information out there. Get your nutrition advice from a trusted professional.
No, just eat when you are hungry and stop when satisfied. Listen to your body. Or if you don’t have that control yet just count calories on an app or something. Starving leads to weakness and nutrient deficiency and when you start eating again all the water weight comes back. The suffering is not worth a few pounds. People mainly fast for religious practices, not for looks…

One thing close enough to calling it a shortcut, is to ask yourself whether something is natural to the human body.
Freezers didn't exist for a long time... we are able to fast for much longer than what's in our comfort zone...
But one thing unnatural for sure is to spend 90% of our time indoors and not moving much...
Just like eating omega 6 fats is unnatural to humans, and even dangerous...
I've been underweight until in middle school I started doing keto and an average of less than 7 meals per week, before it was even sexy. I gained lean mass... but it's important keep in mind that we're all different and everyone should make their own diets.
Some principles everyone should follow are not to let blood glucose fluctuate, to keep moving frequently, even if it means working at a desk standing, kneeling etc. Getting direct sunlight is totally a must, many people forget about. What you'll notice is that the less you eat the less you want to eat. That's why it's important to keep moving and going outside, so your metabolism doesn't slow down way too much to the point you can't do your chores.
It's easy to overdo prolonged fasting. Better to do either one meal a day, or cycling carbs (no carbs until post workout evening). It's safe to do if you really know what you're doing. Also don't be afraid to lift weights, it's really good for female hormones too, not just for men.
Fasting is safe, healthy and has countless benefits. If your only goal is to get skinny its like buying a car just to hear music in it.
Your real goal should always to be healthy. Skinny/fat/ average is not a clear and distinct measurment of health.
What happens when we fast? Here are only a few things.
The constant insulin levels finally drop and the body gets a chance to rest. Since Insulin's goal is to store fat once it is gone fat begins to finally be able to be released from storage. Your body now can use it as a fuel, a far far better fuel. People who are dementia and Alzheimer stricken gain clarity because the brain cells can burn this far better fuel. Many organs and functions of the body began to clean and reset.
Eventually you enter autophagy - A state where the body eats itself. This is a very good thing. All the dead cells and useless cells are cleaned up and burned as fuel. Loose skin tightens slowly and dead brain cells that clog the mind are also cleared away.
I read where a man with stage 4 cancer ( If I remember correctly it was colon cancer) fasted for 21 days. The tumor reduced 50% and the doctor was amazed.
I will find the video of this and post it when I can.
There is a need for salt in our diet. You might look up "the Salt Fix" Understanding this will help a great deal when fasting.
Also when fasting don't just lay around. Get up and be active.
So yes Fasting is very beneficial.
Ok I found it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzPrxku1x5Y
Safe? Yes. Will it produce long term results? NO.
Fasting, while it can help with weight loss, isn't ideal long term. Because as soon as you go back to eating like you used to, or overeat? You'll gain the weight back. You're basically losing water weight.
Usually when I fast, I do so for 16-18 hours, exercise to keep my metabolism going, drink water, then eat within a certain timeframe. It does work, but as I said, the moment you go back to your old ways or break the fast, you'll be right back where you started.
Just lose weight the old fashioned way: eat less, lift weights (strength training), and cardio.
I've heard intermittent fasting is the best route if you wanna lose weight.
If you wanna try doing a strict water/juice fast for the whole day and days on end, though... Maybe think twice. For some, it's had the opposite affect. It really isn't for everyone, and could lead to health issues.
E. G: For someone who is obese, day long fasts could be beneficial, because of all the fat on their body that could be turned into energy. However, for someone with a lot less fat and who is generally more fit could be dangerous for the same reason.
Either way, consulting a doctor on the matter before doing day long fasts is a MUST! You don't wanna hurt yourself!
Fasting is bad for you and is a very poor long term approach to losing weight. So it has downsides, with no real upside.
Doing a lot of fasting is a lot bad for you. You should stay completely away from it. Just eat a healthy diet and get good exercise on a regular basis. You need to do those two things anyway, so it's win-win.
I've known people who used to do a lot of fasting and they ended up with some serious long term health problems. Your body needs nutrition, and it needs it regularly. Don't mess with your health.
You body has to last a lifetime, so take care of it. Diet and exercise are critical to longevity. Fasting is not, it's a negative.
It's not a good idea, tpu risk your body going into "starvation mode" where when it's getting literally nothing it starts holding onto everything aka slows your metabolism to a crawl.
Straight fasting isn't sustainable so it's just another gimic diet like keto.
The worst part is that as soon as you stop fasting and go back to eating like you normally did you are going to put the weight back on fast.
You have to change your eating habits, not just put them on pause for a few days, and skinny is a lifestyle, as in its a commitment to exercise and eating well, you can't get those results by not eating for a week.
I did a week of only eating a banana for breakfast each day so i wouldn't say fangerous but its silly cause it won't last, it dosent work.
was also fairly active, when I stopped eating right and exercising the weight started coming back.
There is no quick "fix" its a life style
First you have to make sure you know that fasting is not starving yourself. You still need to eat. You can look up some articles on "Intermittent fasting"
Another way to lose some weight is a keto diet which is basically extremely carb light.
A calorie deficit eating plan can also work.
The real thing to know is all these plans are kinda not super easy to pull off. You gotta commit and do research so you dont harm yourself.
by the way you look fine but I get it we all have our body image issues.
ehhh you could do intermittent fasting but ideally you'd wanna figure out an approach/lifestyle that is sustainable, otherwise your weight is likely to just fluctuate up and down and cause you to be stressed.
do you like running? hiking? biking? swimming?
Intermittent fasting - eating your entire diet in a six to eight hour period each day - can help some people. Not everyone.
Generally losing weight is simple: burn more calories than you consume and you WILL lose weight. Simple physics.
In practice it's more complicated than that, but essentially the most complex diet boils down to burning more than you eat.
I lose by eating less more often. Six small meals not three big ones. I'm diabetic so fasting - intermittent or otherwise - is complicated by that.
Good luck
okay, pause sis-- you don't need to get skinner babes, u fine as hell.
I don't know what kind of fasting your doing, but I did the one where you don't eat from sun up to sundown for a month and I only lost 3 pounds lol. That might just be for me though, and it would probably be diffrent for you.
Asking others won’t benefit you much many people are already brainwashed. I can ask you a question when you fasted for 2 days did you feel any real real real hunger? Was your throat dry and you were about to die ? No ! I don’t even need your answer bc I’m someone I used to eat once a week to lose weight and later cure an arthritis. And no I didn’t die I’m alive healthy than some mf
Go according to your weight. If you need to lose let’s say 20 pounds than eat every 2 days until you REACH YOUR goal..
If you want to fast do a proper research don’t ask the sheep. You will go cray if you do bc they don’t even know ANYTHING about fasting they know lies
Search dr berg about fasting if you want someone as a “ dr”🙄 a non dr one is called “ snake diet “ that’s a good YouTube channel to learn about fasting. You can start here
Firstly and personally, I don't think you need tk get skinnier I think you look great how you are. Secondly, fasting personally worked wonder for me as I lost a lot of weight doing it. So if you truly do want to lose a few extra pounds then yes, fasting can be a great way. I'm not to sure how safe it is but im doing fine ahaha. You will need to make up for all the nutrients and vitamins you will be missing out on though. So for instance I took multi-vitamins as I wasn't eating enough to get my daily recommended amount.
The best way is to consume a lot of fiber when you do eat. Fibrous foods can't be digested. We get the nutrients, but not the weight. When I needed to lose 11% of my body weight for wrestling I ate 1 nutrition bar a day with a glass of water. Every 3rd day I had a plate of stir fry veggies (only) and a glass of milk. This was combined with strenuous exercise for 2 hours each day. You'll feel like shit and always be hungry, but you'll lose weight. Seriously, I looked like a corpse when I finally made weight.
You aren't 'fasting' you are developing a serious mental disorder.
You dont 'need' to get skinnier, you are absolutely gorgeous just as you are.
If you want to look your best, its really very simple, you just do all that good stuff that you already know about, eat right, exercise, drink plenty of water, get to sleep on time, blah, blah, blah, there are no cheats, no short cuts and anything you do to try to avoid doing the shit you know you should be doing but for whatever reason haven't will negatively impact on you.
So go and get something to eat, stop worrying, do something active and then get a good nights sleep.
Yes it's safe to fast as long as you stay well hydrated and take a daily multi-vitamin. But not the best way to lose weight as it puts your body into starvation mode, thus greatly lowering your metabolism which is required to be at peak performance to burn fat and convert it to energy
You don't look like you needvtonlosecweight to me, in fact you look trest the way you are.
It is BOTH 'what' you consume and 'how much' conjoined with your metabolism and how much exertion.
Calories in MUST either be 'burnt' as fuel, 'stored' as fat or excreted as 'waste' manure~
Bodies DON'T fabricate vitamins and minerals they are combined with simple fats (carbohydrates) and sugars.
'GI/GO' Goes in = Goes out... as heat, muscle fuel burnt with oxygen, and stored sugars and manure~
Fasting will do no good because you will still have the same eating habits. Nothing will help unless you change your habits. Taking in less calories and food intake, as well changing WHAT you eat, will be the only way. You could lose 10 pounds with a breast reduction if that will help?
Bo fasting is not a good way to lose weight! It is healthy but in small doses as a form of meditation. Fasting for two days straight will only cause your body to enter a shock state where it will literally cling to all of the fat and eat your muscle for energy. Kind of the opposite effect I think you are going for.
The women who don't fast look older and at age 30 they look like they are 40 or 50.
Super models look like they are 30 when they are 40 years old because they actually fast. Sure go ahead listen to everyone else when they don't even look beautiful.
looks like a healthy figure to me. but if your trying to lose some weight then cutting back on foods/drinks with added/artificial sugar/salt can help in long term. since to much sugar in your diet turns to fat if not burned off. to much salt in your diet makes you retain water more. though staying active with roughly exercise can help speed up muscle grow to replace fat.
Try a fast which is 16 hours off food, 8 hours on. So like after dinner, to the next meal is 16 hours (sleep too)
You are already in great shape, but maybe you need core exercises to tone more rather than lose weight.
I personally wouldn't use temporary anything for your diet, including fasting. Your diet should be something you can do ALL the time so it doesn't feel like it's something you begrudgingly have to to do.
A clean diet is great, but for most people just having some portion control will do wonders.
I don't like people telling me what I should and shouldn't do with my body so I'm not going to tell you not to do it, but I have two things to say;
1. To lose weight I would just change my diet and exercise, not fast.
2. You are absolutely gorgeous. Your curves are awesome 🙃
Fasting is not a good way to try and loose weight what it does to your body is on the web page below;
https://www.bouldermedicalcenter.com/6703-2/
Just eat healthy and exercise. I have a very similar body shape to you and spent too many years worrying about how I looked. Just embrace it, you're beautiful 😍
Am I missing something here you're good Just the Way You Are if you're looking to tone up walk 30 minutes a day at a fast pace for 30 days and your whole body will tone I mean every inch of your body will be toned up
Oh ok I will try that
Not true, it depends on your metabolism everybody’s different
Fasting is pretty good and effective, but it'll weaken you. At the end of the day you need to cut crap food from your long term food plan, eat but eat less, plus try to add some physical activities, doesn't have to be the gym, just be active, walk more etc. It'll help a lot.
Just stop being lazy and exercise while eating healthy. You shouldn't fast unless you know what you are doing. Once you reintroduce calories into your metabolism your body will store more fat assuming that you will need it because you just went x period of time without anything. It is how your body reacts after being starved for a short period of time.
Fasting can be effective, but it’s hard to do right and shouldn’t be done often. I would start with a Keto-type diet, cut out carbs and refined sugars. Do moderate exercise and you’ll lose weight- though you don’t look like you need to.
No. Starving only destroys your muscles and brain cells. And it’s muscles that eat fat.
Some people do “cleanses” with nutrient drinks. But the science isn’t in on that either.
If you are doing it make sure you’re getting your daily nutrients. Blend a shake or something.
Personally, I think fasting is bad for your body. What I do is have one big meal a day, and snack on occasion throughout the day. The healthier the one meal, the better it works. I've lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks by just eating a single plate of chicken curry with rice as my my one meal. I also think you don't need to lose any weight.
I always say if you want to look skinny hangout with fat people. On the flip side don’t deprive your body of food just switch to eating small portions & cut out sugary drinks & switch to water instead. You look fine by the way.
You look great!
Fasting is 100% safe and it's also really good for you.
I don't see a problem in your body. Its good. But if you really wanna loose weight. Fasting wouldn't be the solution. Body is gonna store more fat after you eat food after fasting. Its better to be on a caloric deficit diet and hit the gym.
As @harleigh90 says, just exercise, tone up, see a nutritionist / Dietician and get some good food going.
you look great so be happy and positive about how you look.
Intermediate fasting is totally healthy, I lost 80 pounds fasting during the days having one or 2 meals a day
It’s safe for some and not for others so it depends on your age and metabolism
I wouldn't do fasting I'd rather recommend going on surgar free drinks to take out the fat, and don't skip meals just have a bowl of frozen veg
I am an old man. . . but I am going to say it.
You do not need to get skinnier.
Thank you sir 🥰
first thing your body is beautiful, and fasting is dangerous can cause death in some cases do to unbalance blood sugar and vitamin deficiency, but you don't need it just be the natural you then you will so very sexy one that you are
The danger would be if your blood sugar got too low. That can cause fainting or worse.
No, it's never a safe thing to do. Body will go into starvation mode and may even give you the opposite of what you want because anything you do eat, your body will STORE as fat, because it's starving.
Are you smoking weed? you look fine. Don't do stupid shit like that.
I don't smoke a lot
Don't smoke at all you're still a teenage and your brain is not fully matured. But there's nothing wrong with you. You are getting anxiety or paranoid from the weed you are smoking. That euphoria comes at a price.
It's fine
Intermittant fasting is better than doing full day fasts and such.
This isn’t Skyrim
Your not going To Fast and start Feeling Power Effects.
It just Cleans the mind of Toxins and shit like that. Your not going to be able to Feel the cleansing process.
It’s what killed Karen Carpenter. Yo yo dieting also killed Cass Elliot. I lost about 18 pounds last year. Losing a pound and a half a month and keeping it off is far better than crash dieting.
You dont fast all at once. You have to break fast here and there to get the calories and nutrients you need to stay healthy. Someone else here posted many comprehensive links on the subject.
Nice screen name. Are you kidding me? You're as gorgeous as Liv Tyler as the Elfin princess. You don't have to lose any more weight.
Thank you sir 🥺❤️
Just calling it like I see it. You're welcome.
Fasting is the wrong way to lose weight..
I know it sounds crazy but you need to eat more smaller healthy meals. I eat every three hours.. lots of lean protein and clean carbs like fruits and vegetables. Stay away from processed foods and sugars.
that actually doesn't make you skinnier. it just ruins your metabolism so you'll gain weight back easier after you lost it. it's in the science.
fasting isn't sustainable. Eat less calories on a daily basis and do more cardio.
It is safe as long as you supplement your salts. You need a good amount of potassium and table salt. Look up snake diet.
Fastings makes you gain more weight because your body anticipates needing to store more energy for the next time you fast.
Fasting several days in a row will put your body in starvation mode. Which will make it harder to loose weight.
Eat regularly and smaller portions. Avoid the bad stuff!
Talk to a doctor about it. Intermittent fasting is safe for most people and promotes weight loss, but not for everyone.
Do it periodically, but not for two days straight- that will actually be counterproductive
Fasting is not to get "skinnier" kiddo.
But at your age you need to work out more instead.
There are ways to do it. But you don't want to trigger starvation mode.
No. Try the keto diet and exercising the body part you wish the skinnify. Worked wonders for me.
You will lose some weight but will put it back on after a couple of cheeseburgers.
