I think it's a step too far to say that. Misguided, sure.

For a side who claims to want less government they sure do want to place more government controls in place just because of their own personal or religious beliefs. I do think they have a moral superiority complex that they feel the need to enforce, but I don't think it extends as far as saying they prefer abject slavery outright.

Republicans are bad at being actual Republicans sometimes. Its supposed to be about having freedom from government oversight but they seem hell bent on enforcing new rules where they don't like something. Unless it's guns which by all means remove any restrictions apparently.

I would think that those who think certain humans do not have the right to life, and who want to dehumanize them are the ones who would have supported slavery back when it was socially acceptable. After all, that is the exact ideology that slave supporters used.

I think abortion advocates need to make their case based upon the law. Women have guaranteed rights under the Constitution, that's why I do not support a ban.

I think it's quite apt. When the government takes away your bodily autonomy and forces you to undergo a damaging experience not of your choice, when the government floats banning pregnant people from leaving the state, that to me is slavery.

This is about the rights every last one of us are guaranteed via the Constitution. And if they can take away the right to privacy and to life from a woman simply because she is a woman, then what other rights can they take away from the rest of us.

That's the point. And that's the legal foundation for reinstating Roe V Wade.
