The recovery time, how long is surgery? Hopefully someone on here has had one.
It's not that bad, but it's obviously gonna hurt a little for a short while but the pain is eventually going to fade away in some couple weeks after the surgery and it's probably gonna take around 1 to 2 hours in maximum so there's nothing to worry about. You'll be fine.

My cousin had it done she said it wasn’t a big deal. She was in for procedure same day. They put her out stitched her up. She rested for one day after & the stitches were the dissolving kind.
I had a double hernia repair. It was uncomfortable for the first day and I took the pain pills for the first two or three days. It probably took a couple of months before I was back to normal.
By a quick google search, it suggest you ought to not do any heavy labour for about 2 months.
And to your hopes of someone having one in the past, I hope no one did.

I've never had a hernia operation, but my grandfather did. I don't know how was it because I've never asked him.
15 years ago I did the surgery. For me it was my intestine that went through a hole , into my ball sack. One-day operation. Pull it out, patch it up , and see me back up. Hard time walking, laugh coughing for about a month.
I’ve had three hernia operations over the years. And they were fine, just a little soreness after the anaesthetic wore off. It’s nothing to worry about, you’ll be fine.
