How bad is a hernia operation?

It's not that bad, but it's obviously gonna hurt a little for a short while but the pain is eventually going to fade away in some couple weeks after the surgery and it's probably gonna take around 1 to 2 hours in maximum so there's nothing to worry about. You'll be fine.
I don't mind the pain. I just don't like surgeries. I know I have to do it. It's been 2 years. What limitations are there?
You'll probably have to to avoid lifting any heavy weights and doing activities such as biking, even hiking and exercices after the surgery until your doctor says it's okay
Thank you
No problem, when's the surgery?
Not sure yet. It's starting to hurt so I know I have to get it scheduled.
Good luck, hope all goes well.
Thank you. I'm thinking I have to save up enough for a month of bills.
My cousin had it done she said it wasn’t a big deal. She was in for procedure same day. They put her out stitched her up. She rested for one day after & the stitches were the dissolving kind.
That's good. I can't sit too long.
I put mine off for 2 years now
Lol. 7 years? That's crazy. I wouldn't really do it soon if it didn't start to hurt. Since I've been working every day since April (maybe had 8 days off with the holidays) I think it's making it stretch more. Starting to hurt across the stomach.
It doesn’t hurt unless Bella’s jumps on me. But yeah it’s not good lol I have to do it. 🤦🏻♀️
Thing is you can’t see anything just by looking and my belly button was alway very sensitive since from birth so I never ever touch it directly anyhow and a bit of pain was normal. I didn’t even know I had a problem that has developed and it’s still not weird for me to have pain so it’s hard to remember it can get worse 😬
Mine just closed the belly button. So can't tell unless I don't have a shirt on
Hope that doesn't happen
Lol. That had to hurt.
I had a double hernia repair. It was uncomfortable for the first day and I took the pain pills for the first two or three days. It probably took a couple of months before I was back to normal.
That's not bad. So you weren't able to go back to work the whole time?
Thank you for this information.
By a quick google search, it suggest you ought to not do any heavy labour for about 2 months.
And to your hopes of someone having one in the past, I hope no one did.
Yeah. Looking for personal experience.

I've never had a hernia operation, but my grandfather did. I don't know how was it because I've never asked him.
Thank you.
15 years ago I did the surgery. For me it was my intestine that went through a hole , into my ball sack. One-day operation. Pull it out, patch it up , and see me back up. Hard time walking, laugh coughing for about a month.
Wow. Never heard of that. This is in my belly button.
I’ve had three hernia operations over the years. And they were fine, just a little soreness after the anaesthetic wore off. It’s nothing to worry about, you’ll be fine.
