When were you closest to dying but didn’t?

I think, statistically, I was probably the closest to dying when I went under for my appendectomy surgery. It was all routine and I came out fine, but the process took longer than they were expecting

2 months ago. had a drunk family member attempt to relieve me of my head with a shovel and then attempt to impale me with said shovel. I threw him off the porch with one hand while on the phone with the police and screaming at him to get the fuck away from me or I'd rip his guts out and feed them to him

So I took this chick surfing. She was on the board and i was holding the front waiting for her to catch a wave. A huge wave came up and as it hit her and she slid off the front of the board and her head hit my ear. It burst my eardrum. If you’ve ever burst your eardrum it totally fucks you equilibrium. So the earth is spinning out of control, we’re getting pummeled by the set, I’m trying to hold her up to keep her face out of the water while I’m getting nailed. We barely got out of the water alive.

i got an amonia at 2-3 and was pretty bad

also almost got hit by a truck along with my mom when i was 12

also attempted to overdose at 19. if i didn't throw up when unconscious i would have maybe died. also another time i tried to suffocate/hang myself and well it could have been successful if i did a better job with the rope

I hit a light pole on a bridge at 65mph and snapped it off and it caved the roof of my truck down to the floor and it did not slow me down and went over the side and flew about 200 feet before my truck started rolling at that point i got ejected from the vehicle and where i landed knowone could see me from the road i woke up in the ditch and got up and walked up to the road and got a ride home I was pretty messed up but i went to the impound the next morning to get my truck and knowbody belived that i was the one driving no broken bones and i had a work shit wrap around the drive shaft of the truck i got pictures i literaly had a friend change his mind and decided to stay home he had one foot in my truck otherwise he would have been with me

*Car accident when I was 14
*Bled a lot when I cut my thumb artery in the restaurant at 16
*Nearly drowned in Lanzarote when I was about 7
*Gave myself a mild dose of methanol or cyanide when I made plum vodka

Not counting how many close calls I've had with being hit by vehicles (my college friend estimates he stopped me getting hit by a bus at least once a month)

In 1989, I was aboard United flight 232. It crashed in Sioux City, Iowa after the tail engine blew and all the hydraulics were lost. I was in the hospital, in and out of consciousness, for two and a half weeks.

When I was 16 I was hit by a vehcile in a crosswalk. I realized the guy was not looking and I jumped. I still ended up with a compound fracture of my right tibia. If I had not jumped I in all likelihood would have been run over.

Covid 2020. I was in a coma for 3 months, suffered full cardiac and respiratory arrest, kidney failure and 4 hours CPR to resuscitate me.

I'd gone into hospital for an infected foot and came out afterwards missing the lower leg but alive.

When I was very drunk once and I almost fell off a high staircase. My friends caught me and they took me to my bed. The next day I woke up after a dreamless night and it seemed like I had been dead.
