Why do people downplay the pain of menstruation?

It's treated as normal and something a woman has to endure. And I kinda agree. Medicine offers a lot of solutions, so we just have to be patient and try out what works for each of us. The period is not an illness; it's a physiological state that can just be very unpleasant.

So... my periods were literally killing me, so after my daughters and some friends put some knowledge into my red head, I talked to my doctor and am currently testing some stuff. For now, it works :D

Every woman's menstrual pain is different. Mine wasn't bad enough to barely mention.
Other women aren't so lucky and they get very sick every month and vomit.

I've heard how horrible menstruation can be. Not fair that only women experience and men don't. The closest thing in comparison pain wise that I can think of is if a guy has balls kicked/squeezed

Yeah, I don't get this. Pain is a very personal thing. It's nobody else's. Menstrual pain even when it's not associated with endometriosis can be horrific.

I think it's a "pick me" type thing. They want to pretend women who are in pain are faking it. They don't want to give credit.

They do. Several teachers won't let them take time off or jobs won't offer paid time off.

well we talk like that for the pain we don't experience, but again it doesn't make the bitchy attitude woman gave during periods jusftified either.
