Yes. Seems about right back when I wore a pedometer (a step counter) while going on regular walks and hikes when I was training for a 3,500km/2,200 mile hiking trail in 2012. I regularly walked/hiked 16km/10 miles per day or more with a pedometer for 3 months beforehand, so I have a pretty solid idea of how many steps it would require. It usually took 22,000 to 23,000 steps to cover that distance... on relatively flat ground anyway. I'd say that estimate is pretty accurate. However, the longest I have walked/hiked was 45km/28 miles in one day.
I did this morning actually. Had a 5k followed by a 10k, and 2k of warmup & cooldown.
Congratulations to anonymous OP! :)
Thanks BoobBoobBeep.
I don’t remember much…but back in July/August traveling throughout Europe…most days were around 20k steps. We were out and about like 3-4 hrs. Morning… then 3-4 hrs afternoon/evening. It was just part of our travel schedule so.. was lots of walking.
I go sometimes collecting mushrooms in the forest. I usually use GPS app for orientation. I walk sometimes 20km in 5 hours but for me it's like half hour. It's the gather fever I guess.

even more, when I do long running trainings
9 1/2 miles sure... I use to run 10 miles 5 days a week and 15 miles on Saturday for a total 65 miles a week. I'm not at that level of conditioning at the moment, but I'm sure I could go for a 9 1/22 mile walk especially at 3.2 mph like you did. Distance speed walk for me is roughly 4.5 mph so at your speed its kind of like a leisurely stole.
Before I destroyed my smartwatch, it wasn't uncommon to have 14-16,000 steps in a workday. 22k would be a couple more hours, and while I would be tired, I have no doubt I could make that on reasonably easy terrain.
I suspect I've walked a great deal more than that in 69 years of being alive.
I have no idea, how many miles is that? I've already walked at least 9 or 10 miles after having played a 4-hour gig (on drums) and walking several more miles before that.
9.799 miles based on google.
Then, I've walked much farther than that. One night, I went to a movie and, instead of waiting for a bus to take me home, I walked the 13 miles home.
Really? Impressive
Thanks! I've never been afraid of long walks. Dozens of times, I've walked home from our rehearsal house (about an 8 to 10 mile walk) after gigs where I spent about 2 hours running around a pool table, then another 2 - 4 hours playing drums.
Several times, when I worked at a local bank on their IRS project, we'd have to work 10 ort 112-hours, sometimes. For me, that meant walking around the entire floor dozens of times a day moving the work from one section to the next. That's at LEAST 250 feet per trip, maybe 15 times an hour, and I hardly ever sat down. After all that, my last bus was already gone about an hour before so, I'd have to take a different bus that'd take me at least a 5 or 6 mile walk from home and walk the rest of the way.
The hospital is 1 mile from my house and it takes me about 12:00 to walk there.
I did again today another 15 km
I guess it "runs" in the family. The last few years of dad's life, after breakfast every morning, he'd take a walk at least 15 miles up river, eat lunch and ride a bus back. Or, he'd ride the bus up and walk back. Sometimes, he'd walk across the river, adding 2 miles to the trip. He did this `til shortly after his 81st b-day when he discovered he was loaded with cancer. They gave him 3 weeks to live. He lasted 3 months!!
Yes. It is about 10 miles in UK. I do an early morning run each day of 5 miles or 8km. I sometimes add on another 3 to 4 miles just walking into town and going round the shops.
I once had to walk home while it was raining in Fall for almost 30 miles (~48 kilometers) while completely drunk and bleeding from the head with no money (wallet stolen).
Took me about 16 hours since I kept getting lost and had to ask for directions.
Did you still drink after that?
@Daniela1982 For a good while, yes, although I started to keep spare cash underneath my shoes when going out alone at night in case I ever got mugged again.
I just recently tried to seriously quit drinking. So far I'm 3 months clean which is a record for me.
Underneath my socks and inside my shoes, I should say.
Well, hope you are well on your way to recovery. 😎
@Daniela1982 Thanks very much!
congrats on 3 months sober 🩵💚💛
@DreamCrescent Thanks very much!
I can do better than that.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/XZ4Ib-7fJqYI could do as much, perhaps more... while playing soccer
I did that daily or more for years at one of my past jobs.
Whats the job?
If I had to. Can it at least be at Disney World or somewhere interesting…. Hopefully your trek was somewhere interesting.
Without stopping every few steps wheezing? And where are the bathrooms and how long are my breaks? I usually need a nap after…
Yes straight 3 hours you can pee
Yeah sure. What ever you want to do
I could walk it very easily I just don't see a point in going that far.
I can run ten miles (over 16km) in under an hour without getting tired so pretty sure I can walk that far.
Good work. Stay hard!
https://www.youtube.com/embed/w6NBrWIwN2IYes I have a few times but I feel it afterwards, I average 10,000 steps a day at work
Few years back I used to run 8 miles (Around 13km) and walk 2 miles almost every morning
Good old days..
Over how many days? lol
Yes I can :)
1 day in 3 hours? Lol
1 day yes, but it would take me more than 3 hours
Like how many hours it would take you?
Probably 5
Easily & I’m usually good for 25,000.
3 hours walk? Yeah, pretty easily.
