Anyone ever have a gall bladder removed?

Lucky me is in the hospital for the past 3 days now ,, I had my gall bladder removed because I was in severe pain, worst pain I ever experienced in life so far. Have you ever had it removed? What was your recovery time?

I forgot to mention , during the surgery they fill your body up with Gas , I guess it’s easier for them to get to the Gall bladder , So now I am a fart machine lol I shouldn’t be laughing because sometimes it hurts bad when to much gas builds up inside you

Yes. As the child of a doctor, I didn't panic when it started- a lot of people think they're having heart attacks and rush to the hospital; I knew better and tried to wait the attacks out, hoping they'd stop. They didn't; I ultimately would've been better off doing it right away, but I didn't know that.

My recovery was very swift; they were able to do it laparoscopically (though just barely; the doctor said it was a challenge). I was at home the next day, sleeping in a chair for the next three or four, and eating normally within a week. A tip for the first few days: sherbet. It doesn't have to be rainbow, but that IS the most common variety. It'll get you the calories you need without having to get your intestines involved right away. Don't forget to bring fat back in; people who don't can lose the ability to digest fatty stuff, and you don't want that- survival's all about adaptability, and life's all about pizza.

As an added bonus, whenever any of my body parts starts acting up, I can glare at it and ask "Remember what happened to the gall bladder?".

I haven’t but I work at a holistic health office- when you are all healed up you should take some bile salts with your food to help with digestion :) try “Beta plus” from Biotics Research. You can get it on Amazon. One with each meal- especially if you eat steak :)

That’s funny you said that , my nurse said the same exact thing , lol so I officially experienced more pain than giving birth lol I am going to have to use it the next time I hear a girl complain about pregnancy lol Try having an infected Gall Bladder lol

One of my childhood friends had his removed. He never could shake body weight. Never had a problem after that. I do remember he did gripe about the change of diet though. It'll be an adjustment.

Yea I am being told the same thing about Change of diet , , so this will be interesting for sure , I just want to heal and get this pain over with lol

There are changes you will have to get used to now but I am with you in that it was the worst pain I ever had too. I was up and moving around in a few days I believe. It was a while back.
