also why do people say that you will gain back after leaving gym
Gyms like we have now didn't even exist when I was young, and people were in a lot better shape then. People ate better and naturally got more exercise. Gyms are rally for people who work in offices and/or don't get exercise any other way.
So no, you absolutely do not need a gym to lose weight. With a good diet, even a modest amount of exercise should be enough to keep trim.
For some people, a gym might be what they need to keep motivated. If that is what it takes for someone, then whatever works, works.

Yes, you can lose weight besides going to the gym by eating healthily and staying active. You can do domestic workouts and outdoor things to do, like taking walks or hiking, and eat a balanced diet. However, when you stop going to the gym, you may regain weight due to the fact that you can also lose muscle mass, consume more, or end up much less active. To stop this, the center of attention is on retaining wholesome habits and staying energetic, even if you are now not going to the fitness center regularly.
I have been going to the gym for 4 years and still weigh the same, probably more, but because it’s muscle and my primary focus in the gym wasn’t losing weight. Yes, you will lose muscle but if I wanted to lose weight more than 50% of that has to do with diet. In fact, you essentially don’t even need to work out to lose weight, but you do need to work out to gain muscle. If that is what you meant then yes, not going to the gym and not exercising outside of the gym you will lose your muscle weight.
I have a friend who has lost.. I believe over 20 kg just from counting her calories. She has not worked out at all.
So yes, you can definitely lose weight without going to the gym.
The reason why people say you will gain back the weight you have lost if you don't go to the gym, will most likely be because you won't use up the same amount of energy, and typically people won't change their diet accordingly either.
You might also end up losing muscle, as you're not using them as much anymore.

I lost over 50 lbs without visiting the gym... it's possible and not complicated. Just needs some time to research and changing mindset
A. Yes you can. B. Unless you maintain your regime, the body will revert backwards. Even if you DO maintain a steady regime, as you age, your body will change- regardless. SO, start with resistance workouts, to boost the amount of muscle tissue in the body. Then slowly lower the calorie intake each day, increase the proportion of protein, and reduce the junk carbs. Finally, use cardio to increase overall health. It CAN be done.
Losing weight is mostly diet, calories in and calories out. If you’re in a deficit you will lose weight regardless of what you’re eating or how much you’re working out. It is making a lifestyle change too, however. If you were eating 5000 calories a day and go down to 2000, for example, you can’t go back to eating the 5000 and then think you won’t gain the weight back.
The hard truth is this. You have to be able to control your weight, by monitoring what you eat and how much. The gym and exercise helps by burning calories, BUT you are just beating your head against the wall if you put the calories back in after a work out.
You have to find what your metabolic rate is and how many calories you NEED to function. Remember, the Gym, is NOT an answer to weight control... alone! You have to 'exercise' control over your eating habits, to lose weight and keep it off.
Yes you can LOSE weight without going to a gym. However getting into the habit of routinely hitting the gym and using the equipment there is half the battle won. You can do it on your own but it requires more of a mental effort.
Don’t forget exercise is only about 15% of weight loss. The rest is your diet. A healthy diet for an adult which won’t result in weight gain is simple: Mostly plants, a little bit of meat and a smaller amount of carbohydrates to absorb the nutrients from the plants and meat. It sounds simple but nobody is perfect. The temptation and convenience of eating junk food is not easy to overcome.
Yes. Losing weight can be done by diet alone. It is better, though, with some cardio. Not necessarily gym work. A long walk, or a run, would be fine.
As for dieting, forget fad diets. They do not work long term. You just have to count calories. Go for low fat products and ones with zero sugar. Avoid large amounts of fresh fruit juice. It is full of fructose which is fruit sugar.
Do not skip meals, either!
Yes, abs are made in the kitchen. You could workout all day everyday, but if you haven't dialed in your diet; at most you will only get a dad bod.
Most of the stars from 'biggest losers' tv show gained their weight back. These were the people that lost 300 lbs in under a year. Why do obese people struggle with the maintenance factor? Last I heard it was still being discussed as a neurometabolic disease. In short, you pack fat, and your body resets its baseline (homeostasis) to be at that fat level. So, it actively tries to return to fat baseline against your conscious wishes. I fully believe people can maintain a normal weight from being obese, it just takes a lot of willpower to assert the lifestyle change after you drop the weight.
Yes... All weight loss is, is burning more calories than you consume.
You burn a certain amount of calories on an average day. You technically just need to eat less than that.
However, most people only burn 1300 to 2000 calories a day depending on size, age, sex. However, Its not sustainable or healthy to eat very minimal amount of calories. It can be difficult to figure out your personal ideal amount. Working out makes the process a lot easier and go faster.
Of course you can weight loss has nothing to do with gym , I got to gym to enhance weight , there is standard Cardio ( no gym required ) , Diet and exercise..
But , you must consume the correct foods and it needs to be complete lifestyle choice , now the fact that you are asking this question at 20 years of age means you are not living very well , you need to get on top of this..
Its not Diet , its life choice , even today , while having a lay day , I am in deficient.
Yeah I never lost any weight in the gym when I went. I lost weight doing cardio workout videos which were way better and super easy to stick to. The only thing you would need a few different ones because doing the same thing everyday gets super boring. I have a few resistance bands and they are my favourite things to use. I need to get back into it myself.
I've lost 30 lbs by completely ditching refined sugar, going on a mostly keto diet. Eating healthy salads for lunch 5 days a week, and jogging 3-4 miles three days a week. I do go to the gym when the weather is bad but only to do the treadmill and some stretching.
Yes! Not sure if this works for everyone but when I was trying to lose some weight I just followed a strict diet didn't really go to the gym or had some workout routine other than walking.
It depends on your age and your health. A young person can lose a ton of weight without exercise or muscle training. An older person might need a combination attack to reduce their weight using both diet and exercise to do it.
I lost 60 lb not going to a gym I cut carbs did the OMAD diet and used resistant bands for at home for working out. The body gym promoted by Marie Osmond you can do all kinds of resistant exercises with it some sitting down in a chair even
You sure can.
Eat healthier, low carb, but better carbs, cut back on sweets, drink lots of water, eat less, move more.
Go for a walk at least a couple 2 - 3 times a week.
And you will lose weight in a healthy sustainable way.
About 80% of weight loss is based on your diet. You can run and lift all you want, if your diet doesn’t change your not going to have sustainable weight loss
I have hated any physical fitness thing my whole life. I can't stand the gym. The only way I lose weight, and keep it off, is through diet.
The craze I've heard lately is eating one big meal a day. People dump the weight. It doesn't sound healthy.
Yes yes yes 🙌. You don’t need the gym to lose weight. Just eat less, move more! And eat healthier and drink water!
Yes. And people say that as a simplification.
