Here are some tips for healing a sprained ankle:
- Rest, elevate, and ice it. This is so important for reducing swelling. Keep your ankle propped up higher than your heart as much as possible, even while sleeping. Apply an ice pack for 15-20 mins, a few times a day.
- Compression with an ankle brace or tight bandage also helps. Not too tight though.
- Take over-the-counter anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen or naproxen. This can help reduce pain and swelling.
- Do NOT walk on it if it's very painful. Crutches may be needed at first until it stabilizes.
- Gentle range of motion exercises can help once the worst pain/swelling subsides, like rotating your foot. But don't overdo it.
- It typically takes 2-6 weeks to fully recover, depending on the severity. Less if it's minor.
- See a doctor if it's very swollen/bruised, or if pain gets worse after a few days. Could need an X-ray.
- Heal patiently! Rushing back too soon can re-injure it. Listen to your body and take it slow.
Focus on RICE - rest, ice, compression, elevation. Give it time to mend properly. And don't worry sis, you'll be back on your feet in no time!

Keep off of it. Ice packs/cold compress will help. Keep it elevated too. Don’t try to ignore it and walk around on it. Rest and let it heal. Depending on how much you follow that, it can take a few days to heal.
