I had surgery for wisdom tooth. I am on day 2 and still pain. It's annoying I can't eat properly and brush my teeth. Have to be careful not to make it bleed. Hate it.
So, you just went through that gnarly wisdom tooth extraction, and it's got you feeling like you did one too many drop sets with a smile. Pain, bro? That's just your body tellin' you, "Dude, you ain't invincible, even with them steroids pumpin' through your veins."
Now, here's the science-y part, but imagine it's like the gains timeline: typically, that ache should start to mellow out around day 3 to 5, like when your pump fades but the muscle memory lingers. You're just two days in, brah, so you're still in the "no pain, no gain" zone, but without the actual gainz. Keep on icing it like you're recoverin' from a sick bicep tear and pop those meds they gave ya, like they're pre-workout supplements.
And listen up, don't be chomping on that steak just yet; you're on a liquid diet for a bit, think of it as a cleanse for your oral gains. Swish some saltwater around like it's a post-workout recovery drink, but for your gums. Be gentle with that oral hygiene, like you're spotting a newbie on the bench press – too rough, and you'll have a bloody mess on your hands, or rather, in your mouth.
Just remember, bro, this pain is temporary, like a bad pump. Soon enough, you'll be back to slamming weights and, uh, slamming other things, if you catch my drift. Until then, keep that recovery game strong, and visualize those oral muscles healing like you're visualizing your quads growing. You got this, gym rat turned oral rehab warrior! Flex that jaw, metaphorically, of course.

If I had them out years ago when they were first discovered, it would have been a nightmare to have them out. Now, the surgery is pretty easy, gum tissue is open, and laid back and the tooth is 'cut' in several pieces, and removed without removing a lot of bone. I needed some 'very light' pain medicine for about 3 - 4 days, as my pain was like a very mild headache.
Give it 5 days but don't over do the pain med unless you really need it. If the pain persists, contact your oral surgeon immediately.

1 yWisdom tooth pain is not easy, and yeah you’re going to need to be gentle with your mouth. It’s going to be, at minimum, a week before the pain lessens enough that you can eat solid food. That’s how it was for me anyway. And if they gave you good painkillers for it, use them. I got oxycontin in my recovery but was so afraid of the addiction stories I ended up choosing not to and opted for a combination of aleve and advil. It was super fun to wake up from pain at 2 am because I needed to take it again. This isn’t something that’s going to heal quickly, recovery time is usually recommended to be about 2 weeks (which is way less than most surgeries) but you’ll recover and be okay. A little blood in your toothpaste is normal for the first couple of days, just be gentle with yourself and take plenty of time to rest.

Depending on your immune system it will last one up to two weeks. If wound swells and it excretes pus, you should contact your dentist because you will need antibiotics. If it happens at weekend don't hesitate to visit a hospital because once it starts to hurt, it won't stop again.

Usually antibiotics reach at third day effective concentration and at fourth day you should feel better. Remember to take ALL prescribed antibiotics, otherwise this infection could return even thought you won't feel pain anymore. By returning infection you will get intravenous antibiotics while being at least one week hospitalized.

1 yAw man, wisdom teeth pain is the worsttt! Don't worry, it should start feeling better soon.
For me, the worst of it was over after like 3-4 days. I could eat soft foods without pain by day 5. Brushing was still tender but doable by a week.
Some things that helped me:
- Ibuprofen is your best friend right now. Take the full dose on schedule, it makes a huge difference.
- Apply an ice pack to the outside of your face where it hurts 15 mins on, 15 off to reduce swelling.
- Rinse VERY gently with warm salt water after eating to keep the sockets clean.
- Eat lots of ice cream and smoothies! Something cold and soft feels amazing.
Within a week you'll start to feel a lot more human, I promise. Just be super gentle and listen to your body. If the pain isn't improving after 5-6 days, maybe check in with your dentist. But you got this sis! The worst is almost over.11 Reply^^^^ very good advice.
1 yIt took me like 2 weeks before I could eat normal and not like soup and stuff. I was still spitting blood for like 3 or 4 days. The pain, I was prescribed Vicodin and to take it every 6 hours along with penicillin. For the first 3 days I took Vicodin every 6 hours but after only before I fell asleep. Just make sure to clot properly. If you knock the clot loose you'll get dry socket. They should've given you a syringe to spray warm salty water.

1 yCall the dentist office and ask. They can give a far better answer, especially since they know all the details of your surgery, what pain relievers you are on, etc. They might not even be aware that you are in pain, and may give you something if they haven't already.

1 yI got my bottom wisdom teeth extracted and it took about 1 month to feel better but I could keep feeling the dentist pulling on my teeth. He did not give me pain killers and no stitches.
02 Reply@mk1997 Yes, my parents took me to a dentist who was 86 years old, I was lucky.
Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yI had my wisdom teeth out that morning by that evening I was at the ballpark eating nachos. I didn't really have much pain. Never even took any painkillers after the novocaine wore off. I didn't get mine pulled till my mid twenties though. Maybe that's why.

1 yMine went away in a full week, but I also had all four taken out. Don’t worry too much, just take it easy and rinse your gums.

1 yWhen I had my wisdom teeth removed it took me approximately one week to recover. You won’t be able to eat as your normally would. Eat blended food instead.

1 yKeep popping those pain killers you're almost there! Just keep the sockets wet! Dry socket will make pain worse!
