When will the retainer pain go away?

I got my braces off 2 days ago, after I got them off, I had to wait 2 days to get my retainer. I got my retainer today I'm supposed to always wear it. It feels very sore and hurts, and I was wondering if this pain will ever go away, if so, when?
I know that retainers don't move your teeth, they just keep them in line, but if my teeth have shifted at all during those 2 days of waiting for my retainer then wouldn't that mean that the pain won't go away? I don't know.

Don't worry. I've had braces before and I sill have my retainer. You'll get used to it and so will your teeth. Just don't forget to put it in at night or whenever you have to wear it. Good luck!

For me it went away after two or three days. It's gonna be different for everyone but it will go away fairly quickly.. No worries!!! Congratulations on getting your braces off!!! :D

Your teeth haven't shifted. It goes away... I remember having one and yes it sucked for about a week. Eventually you won't even feel it. It's worth it so don't give up! :)

Never, the first night I wore mine I had to take it out. It hurt so bad and I just didn't wear it anymore 😕

It usually takes about a week or two to accustom to change
