I was 6' 9", 185 lbs. most of my adult life until about 20 years ago. I got severely sad and depressed and started packing on the pounds. I have a feeling part of it is because I used to always play drums on my stomach and chest and, once I got depressed, I stopped doing it and that allowed me to gain! Also around that time, my band broke up, my fiance started cheating on me so, no sex for several years (going on 29 this Dec.), my brother fucked over my 12-speed so, no more bike riding, dad filled in the swimming pool so, no more swimming and they stopped having me do the more active jobs at work to concentrate on one where I just stood in one place most of the time from Feb. to Aug. every year. And, as I'd usually walk home at least 10 miles after every gig we played I no longer did that after the band broke up. I lost all of that exercise at the same time.
I kinda cheered up a bit a couple years later but, by that time, I'd gained 100 lbs.. As I was so close to 300, I decided to just let it go `til I got to 300, maybe even 305 just so that I could say that, at one point, I WAS 305. Another year or two later, I ended up almost 370!!
Because of this excess weight and standing in one place all day, every day, I also got edema so, I had to go see a specialist about that for a couple months and would walk up to her office several times a week. She was about 4 miles from my house. I started knocking off some of the weight doing that. But, I'm still about 130 lbs. overweight (although my BWM might say I'm only about 100 over. I'm told 185 was too skinny for someone my height). At the moment, I'm just over 320. Hopefully, once I get my drums up here, I'll be able to start dropping some weight.
Congrats, Coach!
I went through that.
I got a new job when I was 26, had to cut my rock star hair and wear a suit. The job was stressful and sedentary. Also, people took me to really good restaurants every day for lunch. So when I was close to 29 years old, I started gaining weight and gradually gained almost 60 lbs.
When I was 34, the company added Weight Watchers membership to its benefits, so I signed up.
Along with their diet plan, I started working out and walking/jogging. I bought a treadmill, some weights and things for my condo and also did isometrics to a work out video every day. I dedicated an hour a day to working out in my condo. Plus the condo had a gym downstairs so I used the machines, too. And there was a pool, so I swam a lot.
Anyway, it took me less than six months to lose that weight and get back in really good shape.
not exactly recently but in late 2019 - mid 2021 i went on a diet where i lost about 35-37kgs (i think in lbs it's 60-70. was at my fattest in my life in 2019, i weighed 95-97kg for 1m73 (bmi 30-31...). lost about 20kgs/40 or so lbs in 8-9 months, so basically went from a slightly obese bmi to a healthy bmi (got down to circa 95kg to 72kg). did that by eating two meals a day, counting calories (ate mainly around 1400 cals), and trying to mainly eat foods i liked that that were low in calories, when i wanted to overreat i'd go for some coca zero and the cravings would go away, did allow myself some rest days where i'd eat close to 2000 cals for maintenance and the occasional junk food treat. that part of my diet was very easy. didn't even work out or anything either, for part of that was always in my bed even cos of lockdown. the hard part was me going from 72kg (bmi 23-24) to 60kg (bmi 20, my lw as an adult). it took me like a year, though really only was able to properly diet for 2 months. i'd only do cico and eat between 800 & 1400 calories (not super healthy..), eat junk food (though the low cal or health nut type) or low cal healthy foods. would fast and skip meals too.
though now i gained back like 16-18kg over the course of 3 years and now am at a bmi of 25-26... :'(( i really to get back on my shit asap.
Well done, you'll be able to get a date soon.
LOL.

Yes, I've recently lost 60 pounds.
I'm now at 199.
I needed to lose it, as it was gained as a result of my being quite incapacitated due to an injury a year ago.
Although I got by culinarily on my own before marriage, I've come to rely solely upon my wife of 30+ years to supply me with food.
Her diagnosis of incurable brain cancer earlier this year instantly ended my career in eating.
I've resumed eating every once in a while, but I continue to lose weight.
I'd love to get back to being 160.
I'm on my way there.
First of all congratulations! You look great! I was 170 several years ago but then contracted Guillain-Barre syndrome and was hospitalized in semi-paralized for a good several months and had to learn to do a lot of things over again from the neuropathy. Needless to say the sedentary existence, no gym, no work along with my depression eating caused me to balloon up to 255! Several years later I ended the pity party and finally got clearance to go back to the gym and the most important piece of the puzzle was Wegovy. I've lost 50 lb in the past 11 months and the strength training is proceeding a pace along with the cardio. In my mind, I still have at least 20 lb more to lose but I am at a place now where I'm going to be patient about it and just congratulate myself for getting this far.
Yeah, I lost 62 lbs. Over the past 2 years. I did it by sleeping😆. About 5 years. ago I started putting on weight without explanation. Finally after gaining about 100lbs. I learned I'd developed pretty significant sleep apnea and was having 77 apneas an hr. After getting a sleep study and cpap machine the weight has been falling right off.
Congrats coach!
very nice
At the beginning of this month I was 157-158 & I lost 2-3lbs in 1-2weeks. Got bored last week of having such a nice body so I purposefully ate in a surplus to gain a lb & now I'm dropping into a 500cal deficit to lose the pound in a week from now. I'll probably hold that weight for a week & do the same over again out of boredom.
I lost 10 pounds by fasting for 5 days. I wanted to lose 20 to get to my ideal but work stress came up so I needed the distraction of kwik star cinnamon rolls. om nom nom..
maybe next summer.
What’s with this bashful act? Post a dammed picture!
I retired in July and watched what I ate and worked out more. I also did lots of physical work on my house. I lost about 15 pounds already.
Good deal!!! This year I got on a diet to lose 20 pounds and go on a Metamucil routine to stay regulated.
good job, not east to do.
I'm down 30is lbs.
Basically, I eat less, eat better and move more.
I lost 1 lb of the 15 lbs that I gained this year. People usually lose weight from stress, I gain weight from it
Damn! I put on 30 pounds from last year. I got hit by a car and couldn't work. It's hard getting it off not working.
That totally sucks! I am on the way back down again but the same thing happen to me on my bike. Needed back surgery, but I am fully recovered now.
Hahaha... that's my pup lying down with her favorite squeaky toy. She's crashed out on my kitchen mat.
Congratulations, man! I'm down the better part of 15 pounds because of alternate day fasting.
Turns out that I'm something of a compulsive eater. So, I just stopped eating every day and now I'm losing weight.
congratulations. It says a lot about your character. Great job
I've lost 20 pounds in the last 4 months without even trying, even though I'm locked in a room full of snacks 4 nights a week. I lost the weight by taking a second job and sleeping all the time when I'm not working.
never had to, but... congratulations, and just on time... health-wise 👍
I lost 118 lbs just by cutting back on food now working on losing 60 pounds more
That's awesome, Coach T! Great job! 💪
