Is there a reason certain women still refuse an epidural?

I'm currently pregnant for the first time and definitely getting an epidural. I want to have the most comfortable childbirth experience with the least amount of pain possible. I hope it's not like what I've always seen in movies as a kid.

I can already imagine the overwhelming pain during childbirth before those injections were invented. Even though I'm health without any pre-existing conditions, what if I faint as a reason of too much pain? Then again, it's my first time.

It's considered a reliable, safe procedure and takes away most of the pain so why do certain women still refuse an epidural?

It’s your choice on what you choose to do , they say an epidural can cause some problems but it’s a very slim chance that it will , My wife had epidurals for are 3 children and she said thank God she did , because the pain was unbearable before she got the injection , and knock on wood she was fine from having it done. So do what you feel is best for you. And congrats on your baby

No problem , if I was pushing a human out of my body my ass would want an epidural to lol I knew a few girls’ that did it natural and they claimed it was fine but the husbands said otherwise lol

😤since you don't know. She is a friend of mine. We added each other on FB too back in 2021 I think. And she married last month.
Her ex boyfriend from US committed a fraud with her and ruined 10-12 years of her life and then left. He promised he would bring her to US with him but never did and neither married after promising to marry once she sent him money. So, she was not happy. Finally she found her man and due to age even she admitted that her age is running out to have children. So you can even ask her.

I have already said enough. It's not a fetish and very disrespectful 😒 whenever you just jump to conclusions.

Thank you very much my friend Ameer and it's ok. Don't worry about the insentive people. I've undergone a love deception and was stuck in the rut for a while but found better now. I must say today I had some abdominal cramps and felt a bit dizzy. Those are some of the symptoms alright. It's not easy carrying a baby but it's indeed a beautiful experience.

My sister did for the natural birth! Tried to warn her and omg! After a few contractions she begged for it.

So don't know how some women... Well yeah I do they can't imagine the true amount of pain it is. We think that won't happen to us! We can handle it.

Thank you. I think it's bravery at first but when it comes to the pain, we're back to reality. I already know it's very painful but luckily the epidural is already there. I hope your sister's labor was ok. Was she ok afterwards?
I'm wondering what's it like for the baby to be kicking around? I'm still early in my pregnancy but time flies fast.

In time my sister was ok just in pain and issues healing down there.

I'm only 4 weeks old and a couple days now. I'm ok with either a boy or girl. I have no preference.

Most women think it will confine them to the bed, which makes labor pain worse. It comes with risks, you have to sign paperwork before you get it stating that you acknowledge the risks (at least you do where I am).

A lot of the women I work with want the freedom to move in their labor and choose their pushing position.

I've had both natural and epidural births. I would have rather done all natural but the inductions I've had were extremely painful since the labor is being forced it doesn't cross to the brain to send signals to help with the pain like with a spontaneous labor. It's better for mom and baby to be natural since a epidural is a risk for getting more interventions. I waited till was far enough along to get a epidural so I wouldn't end up with a c section from not dilating or any other issues

Also sometimes women can be in early labor for days and you cannot get a epidural since you'll be stuck at home. With my 2nd I was in labor for about 10 days and once i started dilating it was slow af. I wasn't allowed to be admitted for a long time then I ended up laboring hard for 15hrs before being able to get in there to get a epidural. My body was exhausted for going for days in pain

yeah I can imagine the pain. I just don't think I'll be brave enough to tolerate a natural childbirth pain so if I have the option of selecting the least painful way, it would be great. Then again, like you stated I might undero early labor and go through all the pain. Our poor bodies, undergoing all that pain just to birth our little human. It would be great if it were an easier process.

My wife had one with both of our children, but for our daughter they must have hit a nerve back there somewhere or something worse because she was in pain afterwards for months after.

Oh no, my daughter is only 9. My wife had the epidural, but she's ok now. Coincidentally, our daughter did stop breathing when she was born and had to be in the NICU for a week, but she's fine now and hyper as ever.

Yeah, that is definitely a magical moment, although I only felt it from the outside since it was my wife who was pregnant.

Funny story, we were going to name our daughter Pandora originally, but I started having doubts. We started cycling through names, and when we eventually got to the one she has now, our daughter started kicking. So, in essence, she helped name herself lol

I haven't yet thought about the name but do know some beautiful names. The only thing I won't do is repeat my old family tradition of naming the kid after me or another relative. The baby is a different individual and I like the idea of a creative, good name.

my parents' first child was natural birth and unfortunately did not survive because she had a high arterial tension during childbirth since she chose to have an epidural to avoid the same accident.
