
Wife has started losing weight and working out. How can I be supportive to her?


The most important thing is that she keeps the habit going. The only way to do that is by keeping it fun. Best way to do that is by setting and accomplishing small goals and also building relationships. Reward successes and be easy on failures. Make the gym a place you want to be. Like a second home. Group workouts do a good job for this reason. Trainers or gym buddies work well to keep consistency.
It's important to know that everyone hits a point of discouragement after a few months. A person will lose an initial amount of weight, and will see and feel the initial results, they will be very excited. Beyond that point, making changes becomes more and more difficult. It can become discouraging and feel like a losing fight. This is called being in the "trough of disillusionment." It can last anywhere from six months to a year/year and a half. Best thing you can do is prepare her for it and remind her that the most important goal is to get the habit to stick. For some, it can be a tough psychological fight. If she makes it through, exercise will become something she can't live without.
And know the golden rule of weight loss: Eat less calories than you burn.
She’s very money driven… new outfits, vacations, what got this started is I promised her a cruise if she trims the tummy down a little lol
Nice dude! Congrats! My suggestions would be these:
1) deep a food journal so she knows exactly what she's eating. Do it for 2 weeks so you get a good idea of the baseline.
2) Start my making EASY fixes first. Mainly don't drink calories (stick to water and black coffee, and maybe one glass of wine). Next go after super-processed sweets. Replace these with high quality protein and/or veggies. One cheat day a week so it's not too oppressive (and so her metabolism doesn't adapt to what her body views as "starvation")
3) Focus on strength training. You look like you're familiar with it, so you can guide her well--just make sure her form is perfect and she focuses on compound movements and the big muscle groups
4) Make sure she's getting plenty of rest and recovery.

Yeah--overdoing cardio is a recipe for disaster. She should focus on strength training and eating clean. Best way to get the body you both want!
Yea I do omad and I actually got an assault bike which I thought was gonna be dumb but it’s really hard and also a mind f&@$ I also eat really clean like chicken and salmon and brocolli all the time. It’s funny when we go to dinner she will order a burger and fries and a beer and I’ll order fish and wine and they will bring me the burger and the beer. She doesn’t like eating the stuff I eat so it’s funny it’s like she’s the guy. But yea I think I’m gonna get her a trainer I have a full gym in my house which she’s never used lol but to definitely help her keep the butt plump

My first advice is to think long term. If you lose only 10 pounds a year, that is still 100 pounds after ten years. Walking one or two hours is enough for gradual weight loss. For rapid loss, weight training with your biggest muscle groups combined with a nutritious and unprocessed diet covering every major nutrient and food group will work. Stress relief through meditation lowers cortisol and cortisol leads to weight gain and metabolic resistance.
I’m a bigger girl, currently on the Lite n Easy diet. That works for me. I’ve lost ten kilos in three months.

Begin by doing exercise, not by cutting calories. The idea is to build a calorie demand in the body. If you start be reducing calories, the body will learn to use less. The idea is to gradually start burning MORE calories, and then only partly add calories to meet that demand. The net result is consuming less calories than the body needs.
Use a rotation system to build more muscle mass. Muscle tissue is more dense than adipose tissue (fatty) tissue. Perhaps Monday do upper body work, Tuesday core work, Wednesday lower body, Thursday upper, Friday core, Saturday lower. Rest on Sunday. Muscles rebuild themselves during their "rest time", so the off-time is critical. Try not to work the same body area on sequential days. In addition to the muscle work, do cardio on three alternate days, perhaps on the days that she does upper body (so as not to overwork the lower body) and some walking on her rest day.
After 6-8 weeks of increased activity, THEN start to carve out some calories. Soda pop, snacks can go for starters. Increase your complete protein. That means meat!! You can also pair up rice and beans, or corn and beans for complementary protein/amino acids----- building muscle tissue requires that ALL essential amino acids are present at the same time. Eggs and meats provide ALL essential aminos. Corn or rice provide some, and beans provide the ones that the grains/grasses (rice) do not, so when eaten together, you get complete essential amino acids to build solid tissue.
Don't just go by weight. Use a tape measure, too. Muscle is more dense than adipose tissue, so it takes up less space (= dimensions will do down). As a bonus, increasing muscle self-perpetuates, since the body burns more calories to support a pound/kilo of muscle tissue than a pound/kilo of fatty tissue.
Set a series of realistic goals. Don't start out by thinking "I have to lose 50 pounds". Rather, think that "I have to lose just 5 pounds. I will repeat that 10 times. " Celebrate each incremental weight loss with a sports massage, perhaps. :- )
I believe that when your wife wants to develop a habit of waking up early, if you also start waking up with her then there is no bigger support than this.
So whatever she is eating, you should also eat the same and not eat the type of food in front of her which tempts him.

I think a nice romantic evening or night walk with her in any green peaceful area will work for both body and mind
Depending on what kind of work out she is doing , have her add in walking as well after her work out , walking daily for about 45 minutes to an hour a day will help her shed weight in no time as long as she is consistent with it , also try to teach her to eat slower , eating slower , will help her not over eat and help her feel full faster.
To be honest you should be more worried abut her cheating on you than ways to support her, nobody get into a diet like that without any motive / reasons...

Good for her. Eat healthy with her and do healthy things with her. Go for walks together. Comment her on her looks when she loses a few pounds. But don't push her, let her go at her own pace. Losing weight is not easy.
Try and eat healthy too so that it is easier for her to do it. Work out with her. That is another thing to keep motivated.
I’ve always been pretty healthy I did fighting etc but yea I have her doing keto with me and going on walks when she doesn’t have yoga

First thing that comes to mind is joining her, work out along side each other and just have a lot of organic fun with it.
eat healthier yourself, join her in her work outs, go for walks/hikes, get bicycles to ride together.
That would be the best way, plus the added health benefits for you as well.
Just tell her you are impressed with her effort and she's looking great. Do whatever she wants you to do to support her.
