Should I have told my friends doctor that she needs to go into a nursing home?

She more so my moms friend. They've been friends since before I was born. She moved in with me 7 months ago and has a hard time walking. The doctors think its because of her long term alcohol abuse. We just went to her doctors appointment. I wanted to tell her doctor that its not safe for her at my house, and she needs to go to an assisted living facility. I didn't say that. I just said that im afraid to leave her alone, so he is going to have an in home care company come to check on her, and do physical therapy with her. Should I have told him she needs to go in a home? Will the home care company have her put in a home if they think she needs to be?

I have lived in an assisted living apartment building and they had people who were alcoholics, had Dementia so bad they would fall down all over the place and it was the residents who would help them get up or the paramedics would come, but not the people who worked here. They didn't do anything to help them. One lady fell and hit her face on the bathroom floor in the hallway and died during surgery.

When you live in an assisted living apartment you still must get to the dining room for your meals, they won't bring them to you.

Once she is in a medical type of facility she will have to deal with her alcoholism and be medically supervised because she will need to withdraw slowly.

I was in a wellness center for 6 months for an illness but it was a medical facility and they didn't let people fall down in that place. Someone would push them in a wheelchair. ♿️

I believe that her doctor would have to actually be the one who would write the doctor's orders for her to be admitted to a convalesant facility.

The home health care nurse coming to the house and observing her will report everything to her doctor and her doctor will have to get involved.

I mean you can’t make her go to a home if she doesn’t want to. Home care is a great alternative. And home care can do an assessment and give options but they cannot make her move into an assisted living. Also make sure she has welfare, or some sort of benefit that covers home care because it is not remotely cheap.

you can't just put someone into a nursing home against their will like that xD there's ways but that requires quite a few severe legal steps first. basically the court must legally revoke their autonomy based on medical findings and put a legal guardship that will decide for them. that doesn't come just like that.

You should have told him. The fact that she is ill means she is not suited for a normal household. She needs to be in a sanatorium. The care required is specialized and can't be provided in a home setting. She needs to be in the right place for healing.
