Stay calm.
Once upon a time I was looking at three years prison in a nation on the other side of the world. I was looking at an end to my career, my relationships, my life as I knew it.
I made a mistake, I owned up to it. I tried to make it right the best i could.
I just focused on what I needed to do. Stayed calm and maintained that path.
Do not focus on what you cannot control. Only focus on what you can. Do your best and things will play out.
They played out better for me that I thought they would. In the end I didn't go to jail, kept my career and life pressed on almost as if nothing ever happened.
It was some crazy blind, stupid luck but I learned from those months of pressure to just stay the course.20 Reply

16 dI probably don't experience pressure like most people. I love it. I function best in chaos where there is high risk, very tight timelines, and failure is not an option. It's when I feel alive. Outside of those situations, it feels like I'm sitting around waiting to die. I get bored easily and quickly. People have told me I can be exhausting to be around, both mentally and physically. 🤣

14 dThere is an old axiom, "If you want something done, ask a busy person". Are they significantly better at doing things? Whether or not, the point is that they have just learned how to be more efficient. But, even us efficient people can reach a tipping point if we forget to use the word "no" when we need to. And even for efficient workers, lack of planning on the part of others does NOT constitute an emergency on theirs.

15 dOmg, I am like so constantly under the most extreme pressure ever. Every morning, sometime after the sun has come up and I've had at least one cup of coffee, I have to trudge amazing distances through sub-Arctic , life threatening, horrendous conditions that no one as delicate or precious as me should ever have to endure AND then let all 9 chickens out AND give them grain AND make sure they have water AND get whatever eggs there may be but they don't lay much in winter anyway AND whatever else has to be done AND then trudge all the way back to the house AND then have to repeat the whole damn process over again around sunset AND lock them in for the night only knowing the nightmare process will repeat in this endless cycle of horrible horribleness.
And you don't know how much it cuts into my social media time.
How do I handle such majorly intense responsibilities and overwhelming pressures that none but the most awesomest ever such as myself could even dream to undertake? Well, I drink a lot.

15 dAll the time.
I research stuff and go on deep rabbit hole adventures (it makes me feel productive when I learn and organizes my thoughts, more so ever since AI came about... this one is probably my go-to), write (whether it's sharing opinions here on GaG, journaling etc.), workout, kick a ball around on my own or hike (if it's warm enough outside... it currently isn't), game, watch movies or shows, read manga
I also see myself doing DIY projects to distract myself in the future when I have more money to spend on pastime stuff like that. I might even use the stuff I make as a side hustle.10 Reply
16 dIt’s happened more than a few times and to some extent inherent to how I need / choose to live.
I deal with it in a few main ways:
Self compassion , give myself time to rest , to not be perfect , to ask for help !
Communicate when I feel expectations are unrealistic, impractical need qualified or clarified. If people are asking beyond what is reasonable then clearly they don’t understand why their asking or their are taking no notice … don’t be a doormat.
Release what I cannot control. I can control my actions but not the outcome and i can influence the path but not guarantee it. Pressure often comes from trying to control outcomes and you have to accept you can’t.
Breakdown the pressure , what can and can’t I control. Start with the quick wins. What is time sensitive , what isn’t. What can I do right now to help !
This generally works for me10 Reply
12 dIt happens, but not constantly.
When the pressure gets heavy, I tend to slow everything down.
I focus on what I can control, create a bit of space for myself, and deal with things one piece at a time.
It keeps me grounded instead of overwhelmed.10 Reply
14 dYou let go of the control and accept it is chaos. You step back. You are kind to yourself. You do not let mean people who don't know what you get through judge you. You put up boundaries. You schedule your time off. You ask for help. You change if it is work to do something else so your brain do not get overloaded. Stuff I have tried to do.

16 dEvery minute of every day it seems like. What i did about it was accept thats just how my mind works. Everything matters to me. My solution was to learn pressure isn't pain. Pressure makes diamonds. When I learned to trust the universe puts the pressure on me because it knows I can handle it. It gave me a confidence. Now I don't see the pressure as a bad thing, it can be bad, but it also makes me great!
10 ReplyIt happens quite a bit
I deal with it by remembering that I’m the only putting myself under pressure
The outside world can’t really do that to me
Dealing with it is easier said than done, however.

16 dI pretty much go with the flow; I rarely feel pressure. If I do feel pressured, I first think if it's something I have any control over. If not, I ignore the pressure... it ends up becoming someone else's problem, not mine. If I do have control over it, I adjust my priorities to emphasize doing whatever is necessary to reduce, and hopefully eliminate, the pressure.

15 dEvery day since 2009 I have to drink strong alcohol drinks, sometimes I mix them with niquil otherwise I can't function at all. Praying or nothing else helps. Of course I do it at the end of the day.

10 ReplyFairly regularly but not too extreme. I enjoy it to a degree but if its created by others being useless then I get pissed off
10 ReplyOften. But all i do is step back when needed take a deep breath relax my muscles and then refoucous my efforts and perspective.
