I embrace it. Untill I understand and can fix it. Sometimes its easy like when you touch a hot stove. You instantly know not to do that again. Especially if you have to go to the hospital for someone else to fix you...
Mental pain is much more difficult to identify and fix. Our subconscious minds are like playing hide and seek in a maze thats changing... mental pain i replay over and over untill I see every part of the maze and how it changes. Its not to beat myself up for the mistakes, its to understand how to be better. I use mental pain as a tool to improve myself. everyone can always improve mental pains purpose is so we know how.
Emotional pain is both the thing that blinds us from fixing the mental pain and the path to getting out of it. For example when we get mad at our friends or family we explode sometimes and say things we dont mean just to hurt them. Sometimes we do mean those things but even when we do... we feel bad for hurting our friends and want to apologize not because they are right or wrong but because we dont like that we hurt someone we loved. How it happened; does not matter so much after you fix something... Only the anger keeps us from seeing clearly in the moment.
Awareness is how I handle all pain. Its really hard to be mad or hateful when I can see things from another point of view. After I identify whats causing me pain I can stop it, fix it, and/or transform it into something positive.
I summon up the inner strength I have. Pain is usually a temporary state, not a permanent identity. Being “strong” doesn't mean not feeling the pain; it means being willing to sit with it until it has finished teaching you what you need to know.
No joke, for good or bad... I drink.
Then start life all over again.
