Well, your legs and ass are the easiest to build muscle on, so no it shouldn't take too long. What you need to do is lots swats with wieghts, with other leg exercises such as lunges. I recommend you look some up. You also have to make sure your getting enough protein (eating lean red meat/chicken etc). Don't starve yourself either if you want to put on muscle, your body needs the energy to grow and keep you going during workouts. There is a certain of calories you need.
Just a little mis-conception to clear up here. Feeling that 'burn' doesn't nessisarily mean you are working your muscle a lot and getting a good work out. That burn is just lactic acid building up in your muscles, which can supress muscle growth alittle. The acid is basicly telling to your body to stop exercise, because it is tearing a bit and getting bigger.
One more thing, if you want to build more muscle you MUST keep your cardio to a minimum (5-10 min). Here's why: When you run, and get an aenerobic work out, you release more of the female hormone called estrogen. You want to keep this low wile building your muscle, otherwise you won't be able to build muscle as fast. So that means low cardio.

Man haters on this site are really annoying, why would someone 1 star this genuine question (5 stared it). Not an expert or anything but I guess maybe sport or activities which work that muscle would tone it. Like for example if you think of women with nice butts the first ones that come to mind are volleyballers, strippers, cheerleaders, etc. Now think of what exercise these women do, usually a lot of leg works, squating, etc. So one can then infer... doing these exercises will lead to similar results.
you should start seeing results in just a month if you're consistant.
Targeting your Gluteus Maximus
If you have extra fat around your backside and want to get rid of it, you want to focus on overall fat loss. The safest and healthiest way to do that is with cardio exercise, weight training (for your entire body, not just your butt) and a healthy diet. Cardio is a must if you're trying to drop fat, so choose activities that allow you to burn the most amount of calories in the least amount of time, like these:
* Interval training - Check out these interval workouts for some ideas.
* Doing something completely different than usual to work your body in a whole new way. If you're a runner, try swimming...a walker, try cycling, etc.
* Adding intensity to your workouts - Working harder means burning more calories overall, which can help you lose weight.
* Lift heavy weights regularly - Challenging your muscles will help them grow stronger, raise your metabolism and lose body fat
* Target your butt by trying these activities: Hiking, stair-climbing, skating, cycling, and step aerobics
Depends on how pear-shaped the pear is. If your butt tones easily, then I have exercises for you.
I'll try to explain one of them---the best one. Lay on your back, feet on a step or bottom rung of a kitchen-type chair. Put one foot on the step, bend your knee and raise your other leg a little. Skooch your butt close to the chair and raise your bottom and squeeze your bun. If you are close to the step or chair, this should not hurt your lower back. Do this at least 10 times on each side, repeat on each side as much as you can handle. Don't arch your back. You should feet a little soreness on your rear, back of your leg, maybe front of your leg too. Even your abs.
Do this twice a day, everyday, and you will see improvement within about 3 weeks. There are many other exercises to tone your butt, and the best option I've found is jogging. A few weeks of a few days per week jogging, and you'll be able to bounce a quarter off your well-toned behind. Good luck!

"Tone" is a result of two things:
1. Having lean muscle
2. Having low fat so that the muscle shape and definition shows through.
In order to accomplish "tone" you need to do three things:
1. Resistance training (meaning working out with weights, and not little like 3 lb ones either-- I mean real weight)
2. Cardio to burn fat
3. Strong nutrition practices. This means NOT starving yourself. You have to eat a good amount of food a day to fuel your fat burning and muscle growth but it must be HEALTHY FOODS and you have to keep somewhat close to a macronutrient profile (different ones work for different people, try a few to see which works best for you).
Resistance training, something normally skipped over by women, is key because any results you get from cardio and diet alone will be only temporary and will disappear the SECOND you deviate from your plan. Lean muscle is what allows you to keep it off without having to live your life like you're doing army PT drills.I do squats and I run, and I have one firm ass! Lift light enough weights where you can squat 15 times without a break. Then lift 3 sets of 15 repetitions 2 days a week. It will be hard, and you will be sore. Butt you will see results in the mirror after about 3 months, and the results keep getting better to look like an athlete's firm ass in about 6-9 months.
Don't forget that women naturally have wider hips than men, because your pelvis is shaped for child bearing. Women will always have wide hips to some degree, butt that's part of being a woman!
However you should still exercise every muscle in your body.Do the donkey kick move! I can't send the link but if you search donkey kick exercise on google it should be there! Basically you're on your hands and knees, and you take your knee in to your chest and then kick it out straight behind you and up. That's one rep.
Try to flex your butt and abs as you do it. I usually do 30 on each leg, but if you can handle more go for it! (once my soccer team had to 50!)
I wish you luck! Hopefully this helps :)If you do squats regularly (about 3 days per week) it can take a month or so to see a big difference. You're at a low body fat% so that's why you won't need so much time.
I've been doing sit-ups and dead weight lifts. My butt is as toned as it's going to get. Took about six months to kinda see good results. Maybe less for yourself.
Skating would be my first recommendation... it's good cardio and all the figure skaters have nice asses.
it only takes a long time if you start late. Keep in mind that physical fitness is for the body as a whole, and you cannot selectively remove fat on your own volition.
If you start with running, squats, lunges and deadlifts, you should start seeing results within 1-3 months.
Dont really look like it. Like you could do squats or deadlifts. It's best to use YouTube though.
lol how tone do you want it, cut or just out their
