Will I get better during radiation therapy?

Anyways I brain surgery for a brain tumor on Oct 21st and have had some side affects after the surgery; I am relearning how to walk and my right side coordination is now terrible. I also am relearning how to swallow, and my eyes are very sensitive to light.I start radiation In the first week of Dec. The surgeon didn't cut any nerves but I still have a small part of the tumor left in my head. My question is will radiation clear up some of my symptoms and how long? My doctors hope it will but I would like somebody's opinion who actually went through something like this.

Radiation will shrink the tumor and kill most of the cancer cells, making it really difficult for your body to develop another tumor of that magnitude. I don't think it will help with your symptoms the way they are hoping, but it will certainly help ensure that this won't happen again :) That way, you can recover form the surgery cancer free :) Without it, you might have to undergo another surgery that would make your symptoms worse, so radiation will certainly benefit you.

depends on what type of tumor/cancer you have. some cancers/tumors don't respond to chemo or radiation even at high levels. its best to talk to your onocologist about this and any worries you have. hopefully your tumor will respond to treatment and shrink. good luck to you :)
