Weight training question: Bulking, but preventing your stomach from getting any bigger, help
I mean if I eat really healthy, would I still gain some weight in my gut?
Don't use the term bulking. Get the idea of bulking out of your head.
You need to do three things to get bigger and have abs.
Number one, do strength training that involves multiple muscle groups.
Number two, do plenty of cardio. If you can crank out a few 5-minute body shredding routines in a day, that's good. If you're running, push it to 45 minutes minimum.
Number three, have a clean diet. Try not to cook with oils. Avoid processed foods that have added preservatives and other chemicals. Your top priority should be getting in lean sources of protein into every meal. A chicken breast, a can of tuna, a piece of salmon would work.
You would need to eat healthy AND eat a lot (such as whole meats, veggies, etc). Because for gaining muscle, your muscles really need a lot of food to energize them. They are constantly burning calories throughout the day. I would also suggest to add in some cardio with your lifting. Most likely, with really wanting to bulk up, your muscles will be burning so many calories throughout the day that, it would be kind of hard to get a huge gut.
no you said you just wannetd to get bigger without getting your stomach bigger and I thought you ment as in you don't want abs lol
oh haha! sorry

Utilize some form of intermittent fasting, by far the best method I've found to bulk w/o gaining fat. I'd start by checking out LeanGains, Martin Berkhan is pretty much the authority on the topic. But yeah, it all really comes down to diet.
well, if this is your first time lifting, it's very possible it will happen with ease as long as you do eat healthy. but generally, yes, you will put on some body fat, but if you keep a healthy life style it won't be difficult to get rid of.
you don't want abs :o
