Acne issues...

I would very like to know what you guys and you girls do to get rid of that acne. I'm in my late teens, in university and I have a lot of forehead acne which I can't seem to get rid of. I have oily skin which is awesome because my skin is naturally silky soft however, can be prone to acne on my face.

Any products to recommend or tips, what to do and stuff would be very helpful... thanks everybody.

Benzoyl peroxide works but it takes time, as much as 4 weeks to see a difference. There are certain types of acids like Salicylic acid but they dry out your skin and concentrations above 2% are only available with a prescription. if you want fast results go to a dermatologist and ask for concentrated benzoyl peroxide topical and maybe an oral tetracycline but only if the acne is severe.

if you can't go to a dermatologist Clean and Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent twice a day and a 10% benzoyl peroxide at night.

Good answer, I agree. My doctor recommended getting PanOxyl, which is 10% benzoyl peroxide. He said that would be as concentrated as a prescription med, but it's available without a prescription. It's worked great for me so far.

PanOxyl is good for your body acne, if you have any, but not so much the face in my opinion

Like you, I used to have really bad forehead acne but I went to a dermatologist and they prescribed a cream. Since then, I've never had a pimple. So I definitely recommend going to a dermatologist instead of buying something at the drug store because you're most likely to have long lasting or permanent results with prescribed cream.

I don't know the name of the cream my dermatologist prescribed for me, but I use Effaclar (gel cleanser) and Effaclar K (cream version) (La Roche Posay). =) Hope that helps!

I agree. I would go to a dermatologist, they know what you should use for your skin. Its the safest and probably the most effective way to get rid of acne.

I would recommend going to a doctor, since your in college I don't know if it would be a problem or not. The doctor will prescribe you something that will clear up your complexion in about a week or so. It did for me at least. I had terrible acne problems.

Benzoyl peroxide is the stuff.

You can also take an oral antibiotic which will make your acne disappear in no time. However, after a year or two, you will become immune to it. :(

Out of curiosity, what is the name of that antibiotic. I doubt I will take it, but maybe as a last resort.

It is called Minocycline. They will give you stronger stuff though if it ceases to clear up your acne.

Ask for tetracycline it has less side affects than minocyclene or lymecyclene and you usually don't have to take it with food.

I don't' take Minocycline with food and I don't experience any side effects. You practically CANT take it with food because most food contains Magnesium, Iron, or Zinc, which will bind with the molecules in the antibiotic and prevent its full absorbtion.
