Do you think they're all b.s.?
Do you think all diet pills are BS?
Do you think they're all b.s.?
I think the biggest problem with them is people become dependant on them. Yes, if you are controlling your eating and you're exercising I completely understand the temptation to go on them. I have been tempted myself. However, I know several people who have taken them long term (more than the few months recommended) and one of them has liver damage because of them.
What happens when you stop taking them? All that weight you lose will come back on because you won't be eating differently or exercising differently.
I know that it's so so so tempting, they seem like a magic pill, but I'm skeptical of them too. If you are really considering them, go to a doctor. They might be able to suggest something healthier for you.
Btw, diet pills normally just suppress your appetite, similar to SlimFast and similar brands. Have you considered getting some milkshakes/protein shakes as a temporary thing? A lot of people comment they fill them up for ages and they get energy from them. instead of eating huge amounts of healthy meals.
Just a thought.
Protein takes longer then anything else to digest. If you get a large proportion of calories from protein, you'll feel really full even on reduced calories.
Don't take the diet pills especially since you don't get much caffeine. I took them when I was in high school and it caused me to basically develop diabetes. If I don't eat/drink every hour I'll pass out all thanks to using those pills on and off for months. Its not worth it. Green tea supplements will help you if you are also working out and eating right. I take those plus acai supplements and they give me energy (mostly the green tea does). Workouts are so much easier with them. The acai is good too but they mostly help your immune system. I've heard of acai cleansers which I assume are just laxatives. But the green tea is great to take, even if you don't want to lose weight. Another thing about the diet pills is that the weight lost will come back since its mostly all water weight. Its just not worth it.
I've worked as a health club manager in a previous job. I can tell you that there is a lot of outright crap in the supplements and weight loss products industry. Often times they are harmless, but not awfully effective either. Weight loss is most effectively and safely (key word here being safety) lost through a combination of exercise, plenty of sleep and diet change.
This, while being the safest method, doesn't always provide fast results, which often gets people to quit before they actually see the gains they've made. I advise against pills, as if you don't have the necessary lifestyle changes in place once you get off the pills, you're likely to regain the weight again. Instead, if you make small changes over time to your life, it won't feel so overwhelming, plus you'll get results. The results will come in slowly, but they will come.
Thanks for BA!
Most diet pills "work." The question is HOW they work. Most of the time the weight lost is just water weight that all comes back the second you stop taking them.
The only "diet pills" that have been proven to be actually SAFE (meaning no adverse effects at all) are CLA and Green Tea Extract. However they don't work nearly as effectively as other ones that do show strong results quickly and many people claim they have had no effect on them at all.
I won't lie, I've tried a few myself. And to be perfectly honest the time when I saw the most results the fastest was when I was doing Insanity, at which point I was taking no supplements except for a multivitamin and MRM smartblend, which is a liqui-gel containing both fish oil and CLA.

I think so. Diet pills can't teach you (general "you") anything about portion sizes, calorie intake, and most importantly about what kinds of foods you should really be eating, unlike diet programs such as Weight Watchers or something which will teach you those sorts of things.
My parents are doctors and they always advise people against taking diet pills or supplements not only because they contain unnecessary chemicals, but also for the fact that they can because extremely rapid weight loss in some people - losing more than 5 pounds a week isn't good for your body.
Personally, I see diet pills as a cop out of sorts. Often times, people who take them are either afraid of failing at a real diet, or they see the pills as an excuse to just eat whatever the hell they want (i.e. I'm gonna go eat that McDonald's and not worry about it because I'm taking diet pills!)
i think theyre the same as an energy shot or red bull or any energy drink, the mega t one provides a lot of caffeine which gives you energy to work out and thus burn a ton of calories its not that good to take on a regular basis because too much caffeine will make you go crazy and make you an addict, also you won't sleep at night if anything take half the dosage (1 pill) and then hit the gym on certain days where you just need energy to work out.
i wouldn't rely on pills in general though.
i heard acai vitamins are good though they help burn fat they are berries after all, but don't get the ones that are marketed as a diet pill, just get regular acai berry vitamins for antioxidant support.
Um yes.
Unless they actually cut your hunger, then yes probably. Well I don't know tbh, that's all prejudice.
Anyways, most important is your food intake aka your diet. Then exercise. What foods you eat is the most important thing if you wanna loose weight, not pills.
Good luck, with determination you'll make it.
No, but the ones which work generaly require a prescription from the doctor.
Xenical, for example, is a pill which somewhat prevents fat from being absorbed in the gut.
The main side effect being orange greasy/fatty stools, which can be quite disgusting.
They're mostly BS, yes, and the ones that aren't have side effects that make them not worth the risk. It's just people looking for a shortcut so theydon't have to work out or have a disciplined diet away from their fast food and sodas and friend meat..
Hydroxycut was the best but 4 years ago they took out the main ingredient "ephedrine". Most diet pills contain as the main ingredient caffeine. so drink coffee or take No-doz (caffeine pills) and save money. Caffeine is a natural appetite suppressant.
they won't do anything if you're not putting in the work. yes, perhaps you'll lose an extra couple ounces if you diet and exercise with a pill than you would without one, but they won't change your dress size. and once you stop taking the pills there's nothing stopping you from gaining those few ounces back. so in my opinion they are BS and I have taken them.
What's wrong with just eating unprocessed foods instead? You'll lose a ton of weight if you change your lifestyle from that of junk food. If a product has more than 5 ingredients in it, don't eat it.
That works for a fat person, not for someone my size who wants to lose weight.
Too broad a category.
Certain supplements and medications can be used to achieve certain goals with regards to weight loss.
I'll maybe add that:
- things to prevent fat absorption if they work may not be all that safe.
- things to stoke metabolism over base rate if they work are very unlikely to be safe
- things to control appetite can help, but frankly I think a high protein/fibre diet + caffeine with low carbs/fat will be manageable for most people.
- where I am most open to 'diet pills' having value is in preventing metabolic slowdown under significant caloric deficit.
The only ones that are relatively safe and seem to work are some complex appetite inhibitors. The rest are just snake oil or very dangerous, such as phen phen proved in the past.
Until the day they come out with a "get off your ass and watch what you eat" pill, yes.
complete b.s. The ones that are effective aren't safe and the safer ones aren't effective.
I've always heard that they're just not safe for your body. If you're already at a healthy weight, then what's the deal?
Whether they are BS or not, they're definitely not needed. (And unhealthy)
Like most "if not all" supplements they may as well be sugar capsules
no pill can help u, all you have to do is get your lazy butt of the couch and do some exercise
Clearly you can't read
i was talking in general...u workout, you are good. but there are some people who rely entirely on pills but continue having their horrible lifestyles
Yes
