Has anyone heard of this or tried this? Trying to lower my bmi so that I can look toned this summer.
Obviously exercise is crucial also :P
Fasting by itself slows down your metabolism. Perhaps there's some idea that doing it intermittently can *trick* your body and somehow result in losing weight, but it's obviously not normal, practical or sustainable. I mean, not eating for 24 hour periods multiple times a week sounds like self torture. There are smart ways to approach weight loss and healthy living in general, and intermittent fasting does not fit that qualification on any level IMO.
eating nothing will slow down your metobolic rate and your body would then store fats as it goes into survival mode and stores fats for your body to feed from and use as fuel, so the best way is to eat little but often, lots of water and light exercise, or weits to tone up, but never fasting, this is flawed,x
You boost your metabolism by eating MORE frequently. Like 5-6 small meals throughout the day. Breakfast also starts up your metabolism.
To slow down your metabolism you eat less frequently. Like 3 large meals per day.
So unless every health teacher, doctor, and my sports medicine teacher among other sources were all wrong...that would do the opposite of what you want.

Iv fasted for perios of 1-5 days over a year. Its great for weight loss and well being. Drink plenty of water. But DONT exercise when fasting. You will be extremely weak and fatigued and it will leave you sore and exhauseted and your muscle tissue robbed or protien and nutritents.
I'm interested in seeing how you went with this, I've been doing it since one jan, with some good results..
fasting has no scientific nor medical basis. our bodies are not made to purposely starve. if you want to look good, why make your body suffer? people look good when they are healthy, not when they are unhealthy or starving. fasting = bad idea. good luck.
