Does scratching a rash make it stay longer?

Hello, it may seem like a dumb question but I cannot find the answer online. I have a rash and I've had it for quite some time but I think it's staying longer due to me scratching it and not meaning to. No its not herpes or anything like that. I know scratching can make it spread, but does it make it linger in that spot longer? Thanks for answers

Scratching can cause eczematous rashes though it is best to find out what the cause of the dermatitis and fix the problem. Usually it is only for dry skin though it could be an allergic reaction, contact with particular substances, fungal infection, or certain drugs.

If you have a habit of scratching, it could lead to thickening of the skin in that area.

Use hydrocortisone which is an anti-inflammatory steroid cream. You may need to take an antihistamine too.

I scratch mine til they bleed, then eat the scab. Of course, I'm covered in rashes.

you are probably not giving it enough time to heal. You should deffinatley put some ointment on it and leave it alone. stop wearing what it is that's making them appear. I used to have this problem..i can NOT wear fake jewelry. I'll break out where ever I wear it.
