I'd honestly classify it as a 10, since I enjoy making practically anything spicy (and the spicier, the better), and I've managed to increase my tolerance by quite a lot the past couple of years. I can eat habanero peppers without needing a drink to calm the spiciness-I might get a hiccup or two, but otherwise, I can handle the spiciness and wait for it to go away without too much issue. I've been to Indian restaurants and I've found that the 'native' level of spiciness isn't really spicy at all, but then again, it could taste entirely different if it was authentically Indian (i.e., food straight out of India, rather than a restaurant in America).
Also, my sister and I go through those giant containers of crushed red pepper about every 3-4 weeks or so. It's not exactly the best for my health, but... I seriously love spicy food that much! It makes tasteless good better, normal food better, and the sensation in general is just amazing.
In short, I'm obsessed. I will say though that it generally bothers me when I order a 'spicy' dish at a restaurant and the server takes one look at me and assumes that based on my size and appearance, I won't be able to handle it... hah!
Why is that not good for your health? I thought spicy food was good for the blood circulation.
7-8/10 Love spicy foods. (:
-5; by and large I cannot stand spicy food at all and I cannot think of anything I would enjoy that is spicy; that means food from the subcontinent and Thai etc. is definitely out, Korean also (given some Kimchi etc. can be very spicy) but then I enjoy some Japanese (no wasabi though). My palate is more bland than anything and I tend to prefer foods being simple.
Some like it hot. My fiance's from W. Africa and puts a little fire in everything she cooks, but even she is horrified at the level of heat I prefer. When I eat Thai food I order it "Thai hot", I eat Jalepenos like popcorn and lather Sirachi sauce on everything that ain't still breathin.

I really love spicy food. I voted "D" because I have tried some spicy food from Mexico and India, and I can't handle the HIGHLY spicy stuff.
When I was managing a cafe, a guy, that worked in the kitchen, Miguel, was making his brother (who also worked there) something to eat. It was these mini soft tortillas with meat wrapped up and he smothered it in a green sauce that he made at home. I was watching him make it because I like to watch people cook things I don't know how to make, and he asked me if I wanted to try it, and I said, "sure."
He said to me, "I am going to mix this green sauce with some mild salsa because I know you cannot handle it." I said, "ok", and watched him make it less spicy for me. Now, I eat a lot of spicy food, but HOLY F.U.C.K. My eyes started to water and my tongue was on fire, I felt like my throat was burning up.
Miguel and his brother started laughing and they got me some milk to drink, and there is Miguel's brother scarfing down those tortillas loaded with their homemade green sauce.
They told me it was spicy for them too, that is why they liked it. A lot of other things just don't seem spicy to them.
Anyway, that is how I know I can't handle the very SPICY stuff. Otherwise, I like spicy food.
I especially love how it clears my nasal passage. =P
lol! psssh, I am a heavy weight in training. :P
How do you know that is what they were eating? It was homemade. It could have been somethinh special. :P
@butt - You have no idea. When it comes to my mama's food, EVERYTHING is AMAZING! =D
I eat pimientos off a bush with the vendors in Mexico.
DDD will tell you all about it.
"Ol?,
Maybe if we have time when DDD & I are in Mexico we'll go to the bull fights.
DDD will tell you all about that too.
Love that stuff, but don't know what I'd say 1-10. I hate 1-10 scales for things that really aren't so easily measurable :P cause it fluctuates too. Some days I love spicy food, sometimes I don't want anything close to spicy and can't tolerate it. Don't know why.
I'm a 10.
I unscrew the cap off of the pepper shaker & pour a lot into my soup.
One time a waitress saw me screwing the top back on the pepper shaker. She said "oh no, did the cap fall off?" I said No. She looked at my soup & asked " you mean to tell me you did that on porpoise?" I said Yes.
In Mexican restaurants I always ask for my food to be Más picoso
In Chinese restaurants they practically have to refill the hot mustard when I leave.
9/10. I love spicy foods! When I was the age of two, my family spent two years in Ethiopia and while I don't remember any of this, apparently our next door neighbors would make my brother and I some really spicy local dish (Ethiopian food is really spicy!) and since then I've had a really high tolerance for spicy food :) Although I have eaten a ghost pepper several times, they are pretty darn hot!
I have absolutely no tolerance for spiciness and that sucks because I really like the taste of spicy food :(. Even if there's just a little bit of hot pepper my nose starts running and my eyes get all watery. It's so sad, people always think I'm crying because I'm upset or something.
I put 5-6/10 b/c while I enjoy spicy food and have a high tolerance for it, I am sure that I haven't tried a lot of the really really spicy stuff so there's a lot im unaware of
I really like sriracha sauce, I use it like ketchup
regular hot sauce isn't hot at all to me
I eat jalapenos like its nothing
I don't like food that is so hot there is no flavor, I think its ridiculous.
I like food flavored with cayanne pepper, chilli powder, and other spices. I like to taste the FLAVOR of spice which may make my eyes water but I can still taste it.
I voted the middle, 5-6, but maybe a little spicier
8/10 for me. Love spicy food . However can't compare with my friend who grew up eating spicy food.
I am fine with korean, japanese, thai, indian, ethopian, sichun spicy. Not sure if I left out any.
Making me hungry lol
Chinese American why? I just love food ;-) however chinese food has maybe 10 or more diff. varieties that I have tried. For sure I eat dim sum every two weeks (not spicy). Korean, japanese once a week. Any how I can talk about food none stop. Forgot to mention, love berili zian bbq hhahahaa I haven't had dinner yet damn it.
What Deft Maiden said. I love spicy so much, but when my Thai place asks "Thai spicy or American spicy" I say "American please." I went the other way once and it was way too much for me.
I'd say a good 7 or 8 out of 10... I love spicy foods, but I stay away from anything that's over-the-top.
I can handle very little spice. People have told me that I only like bland food, the problem is it isn't bland to me.
1-2. I have a very low spice tolerance. I enjoy the slightest hint of spice, but my idea of spicy doesn't even register as spicy with most people.
Based on the white man's scale it's a 10. Based on the real deal probably 6 or 7. :D
You know it's true buddy. Hehehe
Is Malaysian cuisine hot? I'm sure it is robust however :P
10 as in I love it, eat it for most meals, and can tolerate it? I'm an 11 then.
9-10.
I'm Sri Lankan, it's a prerequisite.
10 (: I Like My Food Hot Like My Bitches !
Middle of the pack. I can't stand the super spicy stuff.
10. I drink lava to cool down on a warm day. =P
10. I LOVE SPICY FOOD!i!I!I!
1... I'm such a p**** when it comes to spice lol
