Where do cold sores come from?

I have a small bump under my lip and hurts . I'm worried it's a cold sore. is it air born also? The only places I saw when I looked it up were from other people.

I've never kissed anyone before though , So I don't know how I got it.

It tuns out that it's just a blemish and that I am a hypochondriac .

Cold sores ARE a form of herpes, but NOT sexual herpes. They are nothing to really worry about, however, they are transmittable. There are several over-the-counter preperations available. If used according to directions, they pose no harm and will clear up the cold sore. Please rememner, it will take several days to clear up. In the meantime, try not to get anything salty into it, as it will hurt like HELL. Good Luck

You don't have to full on make out with someone to get it. I've honestly had it since I can remember, but that's from being kissed by family members, I believe. It sucks, but you should take Lysine to get rid of it faster.

Cold sores are a form of herpes. You can be born with it or by kissing someone who has a cold sore. Once you have the virus in your system, it will stay dormant until you get sick, stressed or otherwise compromise your immune system and that's when a cold sore will appear.

sometimes certain foods like too much citrus or acidic or spicy things can cause that. might not be a cold sore.

It is a strain of the herpes virus sadly. Good news is that they are harmless :)

you can be born with it. you can get it from sharing food or a drink with someone or from kissing. I think you were just born with it or you shared something that is taken orally with someone else that has it.
