Title says it all! I've never had cold sores before, but this morning I woke up and my upper lip was super itchy, and it's still tingly (though the itching has stopped). My boyfriend often suffers from canker sores, but not cold sores, and this has been confirmed by a doctor. I personally don't see where I could have contracted any, though the itching and red marks are concerning. I also have gotten one or two pimples on my lip line, but never this many at once.

Update: they weren't cold sores!! Seemed kind of like pimples, but they practically disappeared over night- either way not characteristic of cold sores as far as I have read. I'm still seeing a doctor in a few days though.
Cold sores. The symptom you described as tingling is the clue that you have contracted his cold sore. Yes doctors can be mistaken. Any doctor could take a sample by using the equivalent of a cotton swab and rubbing the sore and smearing it on a dish. It will likely come back as HSV1 or HSV2. Whatever you do do not give oral sex because you can transfer this to the genitals.

Cold sores are a form of herpes. And usually are way more puffy and yellowish. If it is a cold sore, I'm guessing your boyfriend might have gotten with a pretty gross girl at some point. Might be pimples since you can get those anywhere.
