Can redbull give me wings...and a heart attack

okay so on average I can drink 3 to 5 redbulls my friends are starting say I have caffeine addition I would have to disagree with so my friend came to me one day while I was drinking a redbull and said

"dude your gonna have a heart attack if you don't knock it off with these damn energy drinks" now me being me I don't believe her but is it really true or is she trying to scare me out of what I love

now I don't have any heart problems right now but I do get headaches if haven't had an energy drink that day

One, you're addicted to caffeine. That's why you get headaches. Your body is going through withdrawls.

Two, consuming that much caffeine can lead to heart arrhythmias. In turn, it CAN lead to heart problems as well as hypertension. Keep it up and you'll have CVD by the time you're 20.

Three, why the hell are you drinking so much of that crap? I watched this stuff take out a football player during practice because he drank those as opposed to water. He came very close to frying his kidneys.

Which is another point- that stuff is also a diruetic. You are causing extra wear and tear on your kidneys. Also, keeping your body dehydrated like that will lead to other problems as well.

If you want to drink 1-2 a day, fine. But the amount that you're drinking them at is a tad unnecessary.

If you have a heart condition even exercising could give you a heart attack. That doesn't mean that exercising WILL cause you to have a heart attack. Energy drinks are just like anything else. Use moderation in everything. Caffeine addiction is a joke. People say that about me sometimes, but I can go a month without any caffeine, with out any problem. Then I get to a point in my life where I am getting a little sleep deprived, so a drink a few during the work week, and all of a sudden I am accused of being an addict.

If it makes you feel good, and brings you happiness, and someone else isn't doing it, then they will think there is something wrong with it. It is all about moderation. The people who die from energy drinks are the people who drink about 20 a day, so they don't have to sleep for days at a time. You can take anything way too far. It is all about moderation.

@update. At your age it isn't a big deal. If you were older and already in bad health, that would be another matter. As you get older you have to take better care of yourself. Don't you just love all of these hypocritical people woofing down their junk food, with all that salt, simple carbs, and man made chemicals, telling you that you are being unhealthy?

well I have an addiction to Pepsi I can easily drink 4 or 5 glasses a day but try to stick to 1-3 max.

people tell me (because of my family history) that it'll give me diabetes which can be a pretty bad disability so I try to cut back and drink other stuff I enjoy or just an ice cold glass of water but Pepsi is so good.

that much caffeine can be bad for someone and what allot of people don't realize is caffeine is a drug and as far as I know if you take too much of any drug you can expect bad side effects.

Our bodies are very resilient. Nearly everything we do, or consume, on a regular day to day basis isn't gonna kill us. But our regular routine does have a very real gradual effect on our body & overall health.

All you have to do is look around - do most older peeps (and I mean 30-40, not *old* old) look healthy & vibrant? Nah. There are some that do of course, but that seems like the minority. Then you have a bunch that seem OK but it's obvious age is catching up with them. And then there's a bunch that, sorry to say, are just disgusting examples of human beings.

Obviously genes plays a pretty significant role but America is basically unhealthy. But it doesn't happen drastically & immediately. We basically turn ourselves into a sack of crap slowly & gradually.

OK then. That concludes my motivational speech!

You should never have more than one a day. It's a warning you can find on the can. It can cause you some serious health problems. It's not hearsay either, I have a friend who works for them and gave a pretty good speech about the drink in class. That was one of the instructions: don't drink more than one a day.

I had three once in an hour and it really got me angry for no reason.

no it cant. you have a tolerance built up so one or 2 doesn't affect you like it does people that suck at life and only drink water. I know I have a tolerance and am slightly 'addicted' but I can also go without it if I want. you probably are the same

i don't do redbull but love rockstar and sometimes monster so I don't know if this applies too but they both have a ton of b vitamins and sugar and some of the energy supplements/herbs. fwiw idc about sugar either but I know its about moderation
