Acne wash as tooth bleaching agent...

So, I have an acne wash which is 8% benzoyl peroxide. Can I just brush that onto my teeth for a few minutes each day to help bleach them?

This summer I've smoked more cigars that I previously had, and my teeth are showing it. Just trying to get them to look good before I head back to my university! haha

Benzoyl peroxide is often used to bleach teeth as well, but I'm not sure if the face-wash would have anything which could damage the teeth...Probably should have asked a few minutes ago, but I suppose this question will let know whether I should do it again tomorrow ;)

Those acne products can contain ingredients that are harmful if consumed, which they would be if you used them on your teeth.

You can use the Crest 3D white toothpaste and rinse and those tend to work really well together.

oh god please do not do that, that is what flossing and mouthwash is for, there are actual oral items that are actually safe and intended for your mounth

Flossing and mouthwash prevent cavities, they do nothing for color(unless the mouthwash has a peroxide in it)

If I need to I could make a mold of my teeth and make my own bleaching agent for all of $14. I'm not going to pay $40+ for a bleaching system.

To pay for something you can jerry-rig is the worst sin in my mind :P

no they make floss and wash with peroxide now, I just bought some the other day

I don't think I'd take a chance. If you screw up your teeth, it will cost you a lot of money.

Why not just get a whitening kit?

Because when it comes to spending money I'm a pain in the ass. hahah If I can jerry-rig something or make it on my own I'd much rather do that.

I think benzoyl peroxide is toxic if ingested and you don't want to risk that.

Meh. Any bleach is going to be toxic. Though, alcohol is toxic and we all drink that. Nonetheless, I'll have no problem not swallowing the bleach. I do thank you for the concern though

I think you should use something that is made for the purpose of teeth whitening just to be safe but it's yoru decision

Benzoyl peroxide is made for the purpose of teeth bleaching. It's just also made for the purpose of acne wash. It's the only active ingredient in the wash, I wasn't sure if any of the random 'fillers' would be bad for the teeth.
