I know I know I know that physical attraction is only the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to a successful relationship, but I'd say it's a very vital tip. If I hadn't been initially attracted, I never would have given said gentlemen a chance. Chatted with him? Sure why not, but a date? No, not if I wasn't attracted to looks/physique. I am not physically attracted to overweight people. Also, I want someone who wants to take care of themselves, and although there are many different reasons an individual can be overweight (not all of them are the persons fault, many health conditions, etc. cause obesity) there is a definite stigma that goes along with being overweight, you look like you don't care about yourself/ your health. If you can't take care of yourself, how can you take care of me or our children someday? That's a very broad generalization about a person's character but this attitude is very real, as I'm sure you are aware. I'm not saying all of this is 'right', but, this is how I am made up, and it is what it is.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yIf I was obese, I would. That way, I wouldn't get much pressure to change my lifestyle. My friends who are overweight say it's kind of a relief to date someone who is also overweight.
I'm not especially sexually attracted to obese people, but I do know one particular guy I would have considered dating despite him being obese (He's already married, though) ... because we have a similar sense of humor, he is kind and reliable and he has an attractive face. However, it'd probably be a low sex relationship ... and I don't know if guys sex drive decreases if they are extremely overweight or if they expect all the same things that guys of average weight expect.00 Reply
+1 yI used to not care so much about a dudes weight; one of my boyfriends outweighed me by at least 300 pounds…I was probably at a buck 45 at the time. However, guys that I would have normally found attractive in the past, I don’t find attractive now. I’ve always been active (even more so now) and it would be important for my dude to be able to enjoy some of those things with me. Hiking, airplane travel, road trips, sky diving, etc. would be very difficult to do with an obese partner. For me, it has nothing to do with what other people think; it’s more about the quality of life that I would have with that person.

If I was attracted I would, but I've never been attracted to an obese girl although I've been attracted to girls with some chub. Many people like to talk about lifestyle differences, but I know some very fit bigger girls who may not look the part and some skinny/average girls who have some of the worst and laziest health habits imaginable but they get saved by their naturally high metabolism. I think attraction is the biggest reason to not date an obese person followed closely by what friends, family and the rest of social society thinks. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but that beholder is often highly influenced by the media and their environment and take that viewpoint very seriously when making that final decision.

Obese? Probably not dating someone that's obese, but a little belly isn't a big deal.
I find it interesting how people say lifestyle plays a role in this. I can understand that, but I think if the personality fits and if they are willing, why not get them active and help mold them. It may be fun for them both to be actively working towards a common goal and bring them closer in the end.
Besides I've always found looks to be more like a greeting. Once you get to know the person a little, looks become a little insignificant. But I may only have this mind set because I'm not the most attractive person in the world.00 Reply

I like husky guys, but guys who have a lot, a lot of fat on them - like seriously obese - aren't attractive, but even I like them anyway I wouldn't want to be influenced by their unhealthy habits, because if we lived together and he brought home a bunch of junk food I would be tempted when I'm trying to be healthy.
20 ReplyI have seen some guys that are both overweight and obese and have found them to be quite attractive. I would have wanted to date them, but they were only attracted to slim petite girls. I like big guys, they are sexy, at least in my opinion. But I am a overweight myself, there is something about them that I think is sexy, but than again most guys are sexy, so yeah. Hope this Helps! =D
10 ReplyNo I would not date someone who is obese. Lack of attraction. And with someone obese, of course they're going to have a different lifestyle than me. I've hung out around obese people...I know how they eat and that they choose a sedentary lifestyle...definitely lifestyle clash.

+1 yI love being active and do a lot of things. I don't like too skinny guys, I need a guy who can carry me and when he hugs me is bigger than me. In that way I feel protected and comfortable. So some extra weight I don't mind as long as he enjoys being active and likes sports. But if a guy is seriously obese and doesn't want to be healthy, that will not be someone who could fit with my lifestyle and thus not someone I can date.

+1 ySeeing as I'm considered to be obese by the BMI and understand the struggle to lose weight after getting used to bad eating habits and such, I wouldn't completely avoid dating a guy if he were overweight. The BMI has many limitations, and I don't look as big as it makes me seem based on my actual BMI number.

+1 yI'm definitely not obese but I'm no tiny thing either. Personally, I wouldn't want to date someone who is obese. It's just not attractive to me. However, I do prefer guys who are chubby to guys who are thin. I've been with freakishly skinny guys (like, Jack Skellington status) and I always feel clunky and awkward with guys so small. I like it a lot better with a guy who is bigger than I am.

+1 yHonestly, no. It's more than a lack of physical attraction though, it's also a lack of care for themselves. Being obese is not healthy, not caring that you aren't being the slightest bit healthy, is not attractive, in itself. Also, many, many of us would prefer someone with a good figure. Not even attempting to try and satisfy what I think is sexy is also, not sexy. A girl with self care, determination, and who cares how she looks to me, are all good things, none of them come with obesity.

+1 yfor me would be different lifestyles. I've been in a relationship with a girl who was sedentary and I found myself becoming depressed and actually gained weight myself. needless to say I've gotten out of that slippery slope and am back on track to where I used to be. I want a girl that can keep up with my active lifestyle, someone to go work out with and can push each other further.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 ySugar coating aside, I couldn't date an overweight/obese/fat person. I guess it would be lack of attraction first and lifestyle second. I dated someone who was 120+ pounds more than I weight ( that's more than twice my weight) and I remember how uncomfortable sex was a well. Just too messy.

Opinion Owner+1 yMost of the men I date are around 140-160ish. So, depending on his height, 200+ can be big for men. Even then, men around 140-160 are not skin and bones, a lot are lean with strength and endurance.
I weight 109 pounds, so having 220 pounds on top of you is not fun.
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yWell, recently I have decided that it wouldn't bother me if my guy was overweight, BUT I'm really picky on personality. I like guys who are tough, protective and aren't completely mushy or too sensitive. So I guess it would depend on his personality.. if he was confident with who he is, then that's also a good thing.
00 Replyyes I like obese people, I'm fat as well sex is really bad with skinny people and they are ugly too, fat people sex is great and they are beautiful!
here is a pic of my tgirl friends with benefits and she the right size for me
link00 Reply550 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. No, I generally don't find obese people attractive. But more important, I like an active lifestyle, skiing, hiking, biking, etc., and someone who was very out of shape would not be able to share these interests.
It also indicates a lack of self-discipline, at least in those who don't have a strong genetic propensity to obesity.00 Reply
+1 yObese, probably not. I need someone I'm attracted to. He'd have to have a really good personality to make me attracted, if he's obese. Overweight, not a problem, but obese is a little harder to work with.
Lifestyle might also factor into it.00 ReplyNo I could not date someone who is obese. I'm not physically attracted to overweight people, and I live a decently active lifestyle which would be difficult for them to keep up with/do activities I like.
I'm more than happy to be friends though00 Replydifference in lifestyle would be the biggest. its hard to date someone I'm not attracted to either and I'm sure ill hear my friends telling me I could do so much better so its a mix of everything
20 ReplyI would not date someone who is obese. I couldn't be with someone who didn't take care of themselves, as I am very health conscience. Also I wouldn't be attracted to them.

+1 yNo. And it's attraction. There of course may be lifestyle factors as well, but at 'obese' attraction just isn't there for me.
00 ReplyI couldn't... I'm a very active person and if the girl isn't then it won't work. And I like people that dress well , over weight people don't usually dress well lol.

+1 yNope. I couldn't be attracted or live the same life. I'm a active person that takes care of myself
00 Replyi would not. its just not attractive and I like to do active stuff which they probably don't do.
