Do you regret writing something for an ex?

I like to write, I do poems and prose. I was crushing on this girl, and wrote a lot of stuff for, and inspired by, her. I like to keep a lot of my works archived on my hard drive. I opened that folder and was going over all those works, I couldn't help but feeling bad, that's a side I rarely open up to (I have been ridiculed for my writings in the past) and when I write because of someone important its usually a piece of work I hold close to me.

I am toying with the idea of deleting them or keeping them. I am proud of those works but reading them makes me depressed.

I write poems and short stories and I can certainly relate to your feelings. I would not delete them as they can be used in the future. Either your kids or great grandkids etc could use that to possibly put together family information or to search out advice on how to make a certain decision. I still have all my poems too. I have written for a couple of ex's before and I don't regret it. It helps me to remember when there was time when I experienced magical expressions and emotions.

thank you, I do often forget that I should look back on those things and remember how I felt when I was writing them, not how I feel now.

Yeah that is true. Remembering memories from long past can be quite emotional and magical.

Why don't you just save them to disk and save it somewhere. That way you don't have to delete them, but you don't have to look at them either. You can keep them safe, but off the computer so you don't read them. I keep a lot of my old writing and If I know it's going to make me sad I just put it someplace where I won't see it.

I usually always regret things that I write and end up sending to people. I wrote out my feelings while I was dating and I would get rejected. I never sent them to anybody but I just did it because I knew that someday I would like to read them in the future when I felt better. I am glad I did that and kept them because I am in a better/happier place now. I guess my situation is opposite and it doesn't help you...but what I want to say is keep them. Maybe someday you will be in a better/happier place and these poems will only make you remember the positive things that you saw in these people who would be long gone memories.

it might hurt you now so don't go through them so often . .

in the future you will be proud of what you 've written for a person you loved.

I wouldn't delete them. Instead of looking at them with regret, look at them with "Yeah, look at this awesome stuff I wrote, Yep, I'm awesome."
