I can't seem to lose weight

So I am overweight. I'm five foot nine, and I weight 285. I've spent the last year walking two miles up hill everyday. I had completely stopped drinking soda and juices except for orange juice occassionaly. My diet consisted of mostly vegetables and grilled chicken. When I went to the doctor I had gained weight. I weighed 297. I couldn't understand why I was gaining weight. I was walking at least ten miles a week, most of it uphill, with about 15-20 pounds of books. I've had bloodwork done, and minus being overweight I'm perfectly healthy. No diebetes, thyroid problems or unplanned pregnancy. I make a habit of trying to walk at least a mile everday now that we moved. I rarely eat sugar, maybe once a week if that. Mostly vegetables, and lean meat. But no weight loss. I am at a loss.
