Anyone here ever work at a starbucks?

i have an interview there in a few hours and I don't really want to work there because it seems like there is so much to remember that it will be difficult. I don't know the difference between a cappacino and a latte, I don't drink coffee. if they hire me I'll be taking it regardless because I have no money. but any insight or tips would be appreciated :)

I would imagine the biggest challenge of the job would be dealing with the customers, especially in cases where you may have to deal with some unpleasant or irate customers for whatever reason! lol If they ask you about knowing the products, you could always say that you are a fast learner and confident that you can familiarise yourself with the various products very quickly... Focus on your qualities and if you are a 'people person', make sure to mention that! :o)

Depending on your current situation, if you don't really want to work there, are there not any other more appropriate and appealing jobs you could apply for? If not and you need this job, then I wish you good luck with your interview! :o)

yeah no I've spent the last 3 months applying everywhere else. this is kind of a last resort, and if I don't get this then I'm applying at McDonald's and such. I'm mostly just worried about having to work with so many young females in a small place. breeding ground for catty bullsh*t.

Hmm... Well I guess all you can do in that situation is to keep your head down and just try to get on with the job while doing your best to avoid all the bitching and back stabbing! lol In the mean time of course you can always be applying for other jobs that are more appealing to you! :o) Either way I hope you get the right job for you, even if you have to use some jobs as stepping stones to get where you want to be! lol

1 - Very physical, not so much as difficult or back breaking, but completely non-stop.

2 - There's a little bit of memorization, but it's all generally founded on the same basis. Milk, flavoring, and foam.

3 - The difference between a Cappuccino and a Latte is that Cappuccino has a good deal more frothy foam.

well I don't mind the non stop being on my feet will help me lose weight.

i have worked in a place that's like starbucks but it isn't as hard as you would think.

doing the coffees is easy and you soon learn the different. the biggest difference is that latte has more milk and less foam if any.

when I worked in a coffee shop the pain in the but was serving the people because people suck when you are their waitress.

You might have a bigger range of coffees and teas but its not that hard to remember them cause you are constantly making them. For me it was hard because actually nobody teach me how to use the machines and the quantity of milk, coffee or whatever that is needed.

I worked there as a teenager don't worry, Most of your co-workers won't know any more about offee than you. It's easy to learn; all the drinks are mixtures of coffee and milk in different forms and ratios! Relax!

The menu is not that big compared to most places.

oh good. she said they call to schedule a second interview on fri. they called to cancel it and just hired me anyway. start on the 19th :)
