What's wrong with her? Very worried about her

She has pains in her left ankle on the bone both sides of it. She didn't twist it or fall which is why I'm concerned. It started yesterday night when we were just lounging watching TV. She said it is a severe pain like someone was yanking her ligaments and stabbing her. she said it wasn't swelling and it was unbearable for her to walk on it. We iced it then put a heat wrap and elevated it. Yesterday we just walked around the park and went swimming I was with her all day yesterday she didn't twist it. She had previous injuries like months ago she sprained it (soccer) and years ago she sprained the same ankle (her friend accidently pushed her too hard while they were running). She is very stubborn too she hates taking days off just because she's injuredand refuses to use crutches because they hurt. When she had a soccer injury she took the brace off immediately and preferred to limp than be "babied". She took no days off playing and certainly now she won't see a doctor. Now she wouldn't move today she said she had a huge migraine and her ankle was hurting a lot. Normally she would wave it off and say jogging would clear her mind. I'm very worried about her what could be causing this? I also got her to wear her old brace at least but she wasn'ttoo happy.

Hmmm. 3 things for me:

1) not fully recovered, she's added trauma to an injury so that might be pretty possible

2) arthiritis (synovial fluid)

3) nerve problems, like some nerve could be pinched there.

I've been experiencing the same thing and it started last Saturday. But the pain's at the back of my knee though (knee fold).

It might not have fully healed whenever she had the soccer injury. Whenever you get and injury like that you need to rest and you have to wear the brace for as long as the doctor tells you to. She should rest and go see a doctor
