Guy I'm into (and who's into me) isn't supportive?

This guy I'm into (and I think he's into me too) isn't really supportive. I just had a massive delay in school work which gives me so much more work, I told him that, and that I cried over it because I was so upset, and he said: "oh that sucks" and that's it. I told some friends and they all were "oh god, that's so bad! Hope things work out, if you work a bit harder for a few weeks you'll be fine" stuff like that, and he's just: oh that sucks.

Is that a bit of an awkward reaction or is it just me?

My boyfriend used to reply to some stuff like that. I kept on about it to make him realize how bad it really was, that's when he started showing more support. Either he doesn't know how to show support or doesn't know how or doesn't understand that significance of it. Maybe he doesn't care about school that much so he doesn't understand. It's up to you how you go about it

I've noticed that guys aren't really the type to go head over heals in pity. I honestly don't think you should judge him for it. My rabbit broke his leg and had to have it amputated (I was really upset obviously), and pretty much all of my guy friends said something along the lines of "Oh that sucks" also. Guys just feel awkward when giving pity I think.

Thanks for your answer, maybe it is just a guy thing. I'm sorry for your rabbit by the way, I can imagine how you feel, my cat had an accident and lost its leg as well.
