Do I have dandruff or dry scalp?

I really am not sure whether I've got dandruff or just dry scalp. For years now I've had little white flakes falling from my hair eveytime I touch it. (There's a lot of them by the way ). It isn't itchy.

How can I know what it is?

PS: Most of it goes away if I wash my hair in the morning (no soap, just water) but next day it's there again. Same effect if I put olive oil in my hair (lasts for one day)

Oh, and I almost never wash my hair with soap or shampoo. I just use water.

As far as I know dandruff IS dry scalp on the head. I used to have this problem but again experimenting with various shampoos and finally getting fixed up with one or 2 of them who seem to have worked on my hair where I don't have any more problems with dandruff.

There are natural remedies for it but in the fast paced life we have I prefer to stick to shampoo that suits me and I shampoo my hair everyday. I have oily skin and oil on my hair doesn't do good for me.

What you are doing is just putting a band aid on the problem.

Try incorporating the mineral Selenium into your diet to help your dandruff because it starts from the inside. The best sources are found in wheat germ, bran, tuna fish, onions, tomatoes, broccoli, kidney and whole wheat bread.

Or take it in supplement form and no more than 500 mg daily.
