Yes, they are worth it. I only read fantasy non-academic books on my Kindle. For really important books like books for stocks, other books, I use paperbacks only. I just shift between ebooks and paperback versions for the same book lol!

If you are a fan of classics, then Kindle is for you. The dictionary is really well worth it.

You can also download an ebook for free and then transfer it to Kindle either through email or through USB. Pirated books and all. No problem in that.

Depends how much you read, especially while traveling.

For those of us who read a lot, also while on holidays, a kindle or other brand of ereader is really usefull.

They can't be compared to smartphone or tablet, they work in brightest daylight and are much lighter than any book.

If you aren't reading much its a waste of money, as they can only be used for reading.

I like my Kindle. I am out of bookshelf space, so the Kindle is pretty handy. It's great for travel too.
