I read a lot online, mostly here but, when I was in my early teens, I started collecting Mad Magazine. A few years later I stated collecting National Lampoon, then I started finding books that I wanted to read so, I made a list of everything I was planning to read and, every time I got something new, I'd add it to the list and I would see to it that I read for 90:00 a day. This worked pretty well and I could get through one Mad in about 2 or 3 days and maybe a week to get through each Lampoon. Once I got out of high school and had to get a job and then joined a band, I just didn't have that much time to stick to that schedule, anymore. I worked at Cedar Point one summer and figured I was gonna have a LOT of alone time while there so, I took a huge stack of things to read but never touched any of them the entire 3 months that I was there!
My guitarist gave me his entire National Lampoon collection from the very first one up to around where I started collecting them. Other than the Chris Miller stories in them, I never read a single one! 4 years ago, I lost ALL of my Lampoons to my greedy ex-sisters!!
John also gave me his entire Rolling Stone collection, again, starting from number one. One day, a couple years later, dad threw them all away before I ever got to look at any of them and I never even knew he did it `til years later when I went to look through them! Same thing happened with all of the old Discoveries and Goldmine mags that my neighbor gave me! The only thing I was able to save was about 98% of my Mads and a few dozen books!!
About 15 years ago, I found a copy of the DVD-ROM of every issue of Mad (up to that point) and started reading it on the long bus rides to & from work or while at lunch. I have to take my laptop to work with me to be able to do that. Again, it worked well for a while but, for some reason, I eventually stopped before I got out of the comic book era.
I also, recently, found a DVD-ROM of all the Lampoons but the only special issue they include is the high school yearbook parody! Guess I SHOULD get back into my 90:00 a day, routine.

I read a lot more volume-wise as an adult but it's mostly literature and published papers required for my job, and all rather dry and in the realm of non-fiction.
When I younger, I read a whole lot more for just the pure pleasure of reading, including a whole lot of fiction. I should probably do that more (haven't read fiction in years). @IslaTheWitch recommended a nice sci-fi book for me that I'm planning to order soon.

So as far as reading goes... for pleasure I read a lot more when I was younger. I don't have nearly the time between part time work and then school. I still read but it is mostly textbooks and class material. When I get some free time I will read the news online. That is about the extent of it. When I was in high school and earlier I did read a lot. Some was for classes but a lot of the time it was for my own pleasure. I think it relates a lot to if you have to work. Younger people have more time not worrying about a job. The same can be said about those that are older and retired. They also have time to sit and read a lot more.
***As a Kid Going To School, I used to Read Lots and Had To in School. Getting Out of School, On and Off I'd Read and Go to The Library and Even Enjoyed My own BOOK----That Was Published. Working On My Second One. xxoo

I read a great deal more in my teens and 20 and somewhat later. I enjoyed science fiction, and a lot of good books (fiction) dealing with criminal behavior.
I found reading was a great way to relax and become absorbed in the character I was reading and the story. I still read some but not what I should be.
I am odd when it comes to that.
There are times that I stop reading all together for months and then I pick up a book and I keep reading one after another rapidly without a day of break.
That is why I cannot exactly estimate.
Right now I am again on my reading mode.I read more when I was younger. I had the time and energy, and I didn't have to manage adulthood as I have to now.
Don't get me wrong, you ate also more free as an adult. But you constantly have to do these things like dinner, cleaning, figuring out stuff. Taxes etc.
And it causes me to not be able to fully absorb myself into reading, as there's always a disruption.
And I have so many other stuff I want to do as well.I read more in quantity when I was younger, tearing through books in a week. They were small paperback novels or small 100 page books. Now, I definitely read books of greater depth and substance. History books or books about complex issues with nuanced understanding. The current book I’m reading is about 800 pages of history which is all new to me.
I read way more when younger I could finish a book within a week that's even on top of my gaming, watching things etc. However now much less, as I am writer so I spend time on that then I also still game, watch stuff and do multiple other things that never leave me with much time to read.
Though due to some charity work I do in a shop, I can get books from there for free and have brought back tons that I need to read lol.
I think when I was younger. Now I get bored easily so it's a challenge finding what books are best suited for me
Both? Lol. I think now I enjoy reading to my small nieces and nephew. But I also like my own time to sip on coffee/tea and have a good read 😌☕️ 📖 I’m glad you’re enjoying the books you’re reading~
Definitely more when I was younger and it was only because I was required for school otherwise I never read books, still don't. I don't think I have read a book since college. Or it might not be since highschool.
I'd say it's an equal amount. Only difference as an adult is I have to watch carefully how much I read because once I've read all of my books, that's that. And then I have to wait a while until I can go to the bookstore at the mall again.
Didn't read a lot until I reached my mid-teens.
Then didn't for quite some time.
Then got into university and majored among others in literature, so had to read a novel a week... I guess that counts as adult life.Honestly all I read nowadays are blogs, articles, course material, and subtitles for shows and movies.
When I was younger I read a few fantasy novels that I enjoyed, but I don't do much reading of actual novels nowadays.Hard to say... As a kid, I read anything and everything. Now I'm more sophisticated, but still, 3-5 books per week is my average
I am starting to read more as an adult than when I was younger.
I am ashamed to admit it has been 2 years since I read a book. i have not had a vacation action in 4 years and I am just busy all thie time.
as a kid bc i was forced to lol magic tree house still slaps tho
I travel a lot for work. So good to do on a plane or the train.
If you're referring to reading novels, I did more of that when I was younger.
I read far more when I bought a kindle and got unlimited.
When I was younger. There's hardly no time now that I'm busy with work.
I used to hate both reading and writing. Now I read all the time and I’ve been attempting to write my own stories. It’s not as easy as you’d think…
