If your Christmas gift to your SO was a shopping spree, what's the spending limit?

Just depends on whatever I could afford that year and how long we have been dating. If it is early in the relationship then definitely not over $100. If the relationship has made it past the one year mark and things seem to be going ok then the limit might go up to $200-$300, depending on what I can spare. If I am close to proposing to her/she is already my fiancée, then I would probably a lot all of my discretionary spending money (money I would use for fun) for her shopping spree. Once we are married, it would hardly be a surprise because of the planning of finances we would be doing on a regular basis.

Um... I would probably do $1,000. But I also would knowingly budget for that all year long.

My husband and I dated for 5 years before getting married. For his birthday one year I surprised him with skydiving. That was like $800+ and at that time I was making $1600/month so it was a very large expense for me.

My long term ex I paid for a vacation out the country all inclusive for both of us and gave it to him for Christmas his birthday was the same month so it was combined. That was definitely about $2000. He’s spent more on me ….
We both have good careers, everyone is different.

My ex spent around $700 on a necklace for me, and I gave him over 900$ worth of practical stuff such as a massage cover for his car, truck parts, alcohol, etc, not clothing😂
