What ruined your New Year’s Eve?

My stupid aunt. She hosted Christmas, KNEW she wasn’t feeling well, had us over anyway, then two days later is like “whoops, I have Covid, you all need to get tested.” Absolute fucking moron. She got one of my cousins infected, and my father who turns 90 in a couple weeks has Covid now too. Thankfully he’s vaccinated, as are the rest of us, but still…. you don’t fucking do that shit. So I was supposed to stay overnight with my girlfriend who lives on the other side of the state and get to spend some time with her (she’s dealing with a long-term illness, we don’t get much quality time as it is), but now that’s off because I’ve been exposed, even though I’ve tested negative so far. I can’t even hang with my poor old dad either, I have to treat him like a leper and keep my distance too. Not to mention this could derail hockey for me for a while if I get infected, and that’s Life Priority #1 for me. So tired of irresponsible idiots with all this Covid shit.

My wife and I had a nice day at home. Then we went to a restaurant for dinner and had clam chowder, lobster and baked potato. I can't remember that last time I had a lobster tail. It was a special treat. It reminded me of our honeymoon in New England.
Afterward, we looked at a few Christmas lights that were particularly beautiful surrounded by the snow in the town we were in. Then we stopped at a grocery store to buy dessert before coming home to snack while we watched a silly movie.
We stayed up to ring in the new year at midnight.

My mom and brother had a fight again because he came home late last night. He got grounded, she became grumpy and started taking it out on everyone. It was different yesterday (dec 31st) they got into yet another fight.. something about food or whatever, and she took it out on me lol (she started shouting at me, swearing at me and basically insulting me like crazy). I went to another room and locked myself until she cooled down.

She calmed down before we went to bed, and we even watched a YouTube video together. It was fun
