Would that be tacky or not? I mean we dont know the budget that person has, each person is different and what it counts is the thought, but is it still thoughtful? Maybe the person receiving it say to themselves "Again, she/he could do a little effort and try soemthing different".
Let it be food or other type of items but always the same each year.
For instance my mom always give her sisters, a body lotion or Christmas cakes, and her brother in law some socks. But each year is the same thing. So I wanted this year to give something different at least to mom brother in law and not sock, she had been giving socks for the past like 8 years!!! We dont have a lot of budget though to spend on fancy stuff.
Cakes for the brotehr in law is not possible because my mom sister makes cakes on her own, my mom brother in law is retired already and he does not need anything related to a job either. He is not a cookie lover or a chocolate lover either. He does not drink alcohol either. he does not use handkerchieves, a cologe is expensive for us to buy him, cause the fancy stuff let his children give it to him. He also does not play any games like board games either, as he does not hang out with friends or stay at home playing. The thing is that my aunt husband just stay with her at home cause my aunt is in a wheel chair (due to some knee issue she has) so therefore he can't go out to socialize he has to stay home taking care of her.
