I’m aiming to become slim. I went out to an ikea Christmas dinner party with my friends. I got a seafood tasting plate with salad and crackers, a salmon steak with mashed potato, dill sauce and some beans and a huge strawberry shortcake. I’ve only just become beautiful in the face from hard dieting and now I can fit into my tight dresses again, without splitting the zippers, or resembling an overstuffed kransky (big, fat, German salami sausage). I only had one forkful of the shortcake. Which was one of the most delicious desserts I’ve ever tasted, then I gave the rest to my friend to finish. Will I need to permanently avoid desserts like this cake, if I want to remain slim and beautiful? Or can I occasionally get away with it?

It's all about calorie control, if you eat calories less than you maintenance calories (Approximately 15 times your weight in pounds) then you'll still lose fat even if ALL the calories that you ate comprised of cakes and donuts
Similarly if you eat only salads and healthy foods but your calorie intake is more than your maintenance level then you'll still gain weight

There is NO reason even in dieting you can't indulge in foods. It's all about doing it in a good way rather than binging.
Exercise more calories then you eat. It could also be useful to plan some of your meals, especially if you'd like to choose a more calorie loaded dessert etc in an outing.
you can eat what you want sometimes, in moderation. that's the secret. if you don't, you can easily binge because you deprived yourself from occasional treats.

As long as you maintain healthy eating and exercise you can have a cheat day once every week or every 2 weeks.

Don’t worry about dieting this time of the year make a goal start on January 2 but don’t eat too much junk. Do a lot of exercising and lose weight
