If Christmas technically in many circles doesn't end till January 6, then why doesn't the music and other festivities last until then?

Lutherans the Catholic, Episcopalian, Anglican, and Lutheran churches (and some others,) the four weeks before Christmas are called Advent, when we await the coming of the birth of Jesus. December 25 is celebrated as the birth of Jesus, and that religious celebration continues until January 6. That is the day of Epiphany, when the Wise Men finally arrived and saw Jesus and he became known to the world. Those are the church calendars.

The secular world is not bound to follow the Christian calendar.

I think the music starts so early and once Christmas comes that is the music and Christmas commercials are over with.

my church switched to new year celebration. stopped Christmas alteady.
