I don't drink very often but I have on almost drank on New Years. I either went to parties or took girlfriends to nice places to celebrate.

From about 2005 to 2020, friends of my wife and mine held karaoke parties at their house a few times a year, including New Years. I would get pretty drunk on either good red wine or gin. I'm a happy drunk, so it loosened me up and I had a great time. My wife was the designated driver.
Those parties ended in 2020 when the people became terrified about covid.

I can't remember drinking on New Years since then. My wife and I just stay home and watch fireworks on TV. We may have had a glass of wine a couple times. I don't care for champagne.

I drink socially, and I usually have a get together with family for new years. We drink booze during and when the clock hits 12, we cheers with champagne going around hugging each other for new years

It depends on the day for me. I drink very rarely but I just went to a hockey game on Thursday and I drank 2 beers just because I was having a good time and I was feeling like it.
