I'm really jealous of my friend when it comes to makeup, since she is African and has really dark skin she can experiment with colorful eyeshadow and lipsticks and looks really good in most of them. When I do it I look like a clown lol
Women with darker skin are so much fun, I love how bubbly they are (not all darker women of course, my intention isn't to stereotype) ! They are gorgeous too :)
Coming from someone who is super fair, I love dark skin. On women, and men. Most of the most beautiful women I've ever seen are pure African with skin very, very dark.
Skin cancer is still a very big risk if you have dark skin. Sure, you won't burn as easily, but skin cancer results from UV damage at the molecular level, not how burned/pale you are.
but dark skin naturally has high SPF and refracts UV rays naturally so while darker people CAN get skin cancer they are much more likely to than say a redhead for example because their skin alone would be comparable to a redhead wearing SPF 50 sunscreen everyday.
A better thing to point out would be dark skin's people potential for vitamin D deficiency which is much higher than it would for say a redhead because of that extra UV protection in their skin naturally it takes a lot more sun to get adequate levels of vitamin D for a dark skinned person than it does for a redhead.
Disclaimer: I am using redheads as polar opposites of dark skin people for example purposes only. Obviously this may not be true for ALL redheads or ALL dark skinned people as redheads can obviously still get vitamin d deficiency and dark skinned people can obviously still get skin cancer
@iNeedAUsernameNow yeah of course, darker-skinned individuals are less likely to get skin cancer than someone who's almost literally white, like most red-heads as you mentioned. I just thought I'd comment on the skin cancer part of this post because with the op saying 'Skin Cancer is not a big a risk', that's quite misleading. It's a lower risk, but still a risk nonetheless.
I actually remember reading a stat a few years back that African Americans had a higher rate of a certain form of skin cancer than pale-skinned people because of the combination that with darker skin, it's harder to detect any abnormalities on the surface of the skin that could lead to early detection. Also, that idea of how more melanin is equivalent to higher UV protection gives a false sense of security. A good tagline would be that in reality, skin cancer is colour blind. :/
i work with a younger dark skinned girl. Since I have known her she has been pregnant twice. First time the daddy was a mixed Mexican and black. She went on and on about how her son was going to be light skinned because he was mixed. The second time with her daughter... the baby daddy was dark skinned. She kept saying how dark her baby was going to be. She wasn't happy about it.
It is sad. The child of the dark skinned girl that was mixed... isn't any lighter than her other child. He doesn't look mixed at all. I think she was quiet upset about it.
That is exactly what I was thinking when I read that. Unfortunately it is very common for people to try to lift one woman up by insulting another. It sounds like that is the tactic she used.
Especially as it contradicts her point in the beginning - "I'm not making this to bash those of lighter skin tones". Pretty sure you just did :/ Last time I checked freckles are a common feature among fair skin people. @heavensgift2girls
Nothing's wrong with freckle, but I often hear people who complain about their own freckles so I used it as something that's one less thing to worry about. Bashing wasn't my intention @checkyesjulietx @heavensgift2girls I've even mentioned in another comment that'd I'd make a myTake about it, but I have no experiences with them so I wouldn't know where to start.
Ok I appreciate it was not your intention to bash anyone, I just think it's quite a random and weak point to make. I'm sure there are loads better examples of advantages of dark skin that you could have made instead without referring to freckles as a worry to make them sound negative.
Other than that, I think the rest of your take was well-written and it's a nice idea to uplift dark skin girls when there is very little evidence of celebrating darker skin in western media. Good job
I agree with the bright clothing. I saw this one girl who's skin was super dark and she had on this yellow and white "new girl-ish" dress and she looked really cute
I never get it why people consider dark skinned girls unattractive. God it exists in my country too (Pakistan!). Many of the dark skinned celebs are gorgeous !

You know, I am always ALWAYS envious of beautiful dark skinned girls. I can definitely appreciate their beauty.
Nice take!
A lot of people I know should read this.
You should show it to them. c:
Yes, I should. The problem is that they believe that dark skinned women are ugly.

They're all pretty girls.
Regardless of what media and certain people say the beauty of dark skin, olive, black women is unique and incomparable :)

I know a dark skinned girl who always says that she wants to adopt a blonde hair, blue eyed kid instead of having a dark skin kid of her own... Sad.

'Worry' about freckles? What's wrong with freckles?

Dark skin girls are... Perfect, every single one of them.
Id beg to differ... nobodys perfect, and some and definitely prettier than others
Nobody is perfect to you but to me every single being is perfect and unique because there is no one 100% alike
Kelly Rowland is bad as fuck!
She certainly is.
I concur! ;-)
They all look good but the second last one isn't really attractive to me. Kelly Rowland tho... ππΎππΎππΎ

I always considered dark skinned women very beautiful, especially black women, their skin is like always shining.
I prefer women closer to my color but some of the women I've thought were the most beautiful were daker
They are beautiful! Their skin is exotic and attractive to me because it's the opposite of mineβ‘
I never get it why people consider dark skinned girls unattractive. God it exists in my country too (Pakistan!). Many of the dark skinned celebs are gorgeous !
Preach! Dark skinned girls are beautiful! I'm jealous of their ability to go out without sunscreen :)
Peace
Margaret
Wow these comments piss me off and yes I am black very ignorant
Its so mess up how people view dark skin girls like in India they make dark skin girls beach their skin to look whiter. Its so ridiculous!
Those women look beautiful
Indeed they do.
